"Jim and his team did an excellent job on our house. They rebuilt our decks, oversaw a complete kitchen remodel, created a completely new bathroom in our master bedroom, renovated all of the bathrooms in the house and created cabinet doors and other finish carpentry in a manner that matched the existing wood and design. They were reliable, communicative, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I highly recommend their services for any type of new, remodel, or custom work you may have on your home."

"Caden knows concrete! I hired Caden to pour a slab for my new build. I was very impressed with his ambition and the skills he put on display. Along with concrete work I would not hesitate to hire Broadhead construction for any other construction work needed"

"Jaco did a great job! He was very willing to work with me and my “unusual” ideas for my kitchen remodel. He worked hard to make my kitchen what I wanted it to be and I really appreciated he didn’t just blow off my ideas because they were harder to implement. He did high quality work and I would hire him again."

"Jeremiah is very knowledgeable an all areas of construction and works so well with the customer! I had him move a wall back about 4 feet and he didn't make a big deal about it. He is very easy going and will tell you what his thoughts are on your projects! Great contractor! Highly recommend!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.

New builds, remodels, and additions often necessitate professional framing expertise.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.
