After a large hailstorm a number of companies descended on Laramie to replace roofs. I chose Laramie Valley because they were one of the few local ones doing the work and saying they could. I specified that additional water barrier had to be installed in north-facing valleys and also requested 50 year shingles. This was agreed to in the bid estimate. They then did the roof a few weeks later. The following winter we had major leaks - from the valleys and ice dams - the reason for the requested additional water barrier. I called to complain and inspection in the attic suggested the additional water barrier was not installed. First Laramie Valley claimed they had no such request for additional water barrier and then claimed to have installed it anyway when I produced the bid. They refused to remove the roof and repair it unless I paid extra. My insurance company allowed me to go to a new company as I did not want to contract with a company that had done a poor job to begin with. The insurance company also indicated they had trouble with this company from other jobs. When the roof was removed it showed no additional water barrier was installed and the roof did not have 50 year shingles. I paid for the new roof deductible and was very happy with the new contractor who replaced the shingles and added the water barrier. It is too bad such an unscrupulous company operates this way, taking advantage of people who try to do local companies a favor and also giving the industry a bad name. My advice would be to avoid this company. They clearly demonstrated that they are not to be trusted.

We have used Jones Auto ever since it opened for business, even when it was located on 3rd Street as part of the Exxon Station near I-80. It services a wide array of car brands. The owner, Tracy Jones, is very honest. Obviously, this is a highly desirable trait in the auto repair business, and one that can be hard to assess without a long history of business with a particular repair shop. So for any newcomers to Laramie, I'd highly recommend that you try Jones' Auto Shop."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/wy/laramie/jones%27-auto-svc-and-tire-ctr-reviews-5334418.htm"},"position":5},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Dr. Shower Door & Mirror LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"WY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"ROBIN C."},"reviewBody":"It went great. We had been having a lot of trouble with our shower door being hard to open and close in the wintertime because the ground would heave slightly, making the wall shift and the shower door get tighter. Turns out the door had been too big originally, and the previous installer cut it down to fit without leaving room for movement. After years of struggling with the door, it started to come apart. Bill Smith from Dr. Shower Door came out and assessed the problem. It would be an easy fix, he said. He had the door we wanted in stock, so he removed our damaged door and hauled it away. A couple of days later he returned with the new door and installed it. Now, instead of a fully framed fiberglass door, we have a semiframeless glass door with a C-pull handle which looks much more elegant and opens and closes with ease. Now it's winter again and we've not had any trouble with our new door."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/in/indianapolis/dr-shower-door-and-mirror-llc-reviews-2327701.htm"},"position":6}]}

No, you should not remove asbestos from your home yourself. It is not worth risking your health, or the health of your family.
There are strict laws regarding the demolition, encapsulation, and removal of asbestos. Not only could you face potential violations, but you could be putting yourself and others at risk. If you don't have the proper asbestos removal gear, you could inhale the asbestos fibers, which could lead to lung cancer or mesothelioma.
Since DIY asbestos removal isn’t the best option to save money, there are other steps that you can take to help cut costs when dealing with this project. After speaking with your asbestos removal expert, discuss if encapsulation is an option. If it is, you can save between 15% to 25% on overall project costs over demolition and disposal. In addition, when speaking with your professional, discuss if there are any tax credits available for your removal project. Finally, check with your homeowner’s insurance to see if any removal costs might be covered. However, be aware that this is usually only applicable if the asbestos is due to a covered incident, like a tree falling into your roof.
It can be scary to need asbestos removal from your home—you might be concerned about your family’s health, the overall condition of your house, and what repairs might need to be done. You can ask your asbestos consultant some questions to ensure your project is completed as safely as possible. Some questions to ask include:
Do you have the proper credentials for removing and disposing of asbestos?
How long will this project take to complete?
Have you worked on a project like this before?
Do you use new protective gear at each job site?
How do you prevent asbestos fibers from being released into the home?
How big is the crew you will send?
How do you clean up after a project?
The most common sign of asbestos is the age of your home. Asbestos was banned in drywall in 1977, though many products still contained asbestos until the 1980s. Indicators of possible asbestos in your home include:
Your home's age, if built before 1980
You have a home with vinyl flooring or millboard that was installed between 1952 and 1982
Your home has corrugated roofing
Your home has walls made from cement sheets
Your home has vermiculite insulation
