"Had to file a claim for new clothes dryer, and repairs on fridge. Foothills Star Appliance came to look at both. Eric was the repairman. He was friendly, answered all my questions, and very professional. I would highly recommend his company."

"We recently hired T & S Precision Painting to paint our finished basement, and the results were absolutely fantastic. The ceiling was painted a matte black and the walls a neutral grey and the transformation is stunning. The contrast between the black ceiling and grey walls gives the entire space a sophisticated, modern look, far beyond what we imagined. From start to finish, the painter was punctual, professional, and incredibly detail oriented. They took great care to prep the space properly, ensuring clean lines and a flawless finish and they protected everything thoroughly and left no mess behind. Their expertise and suggestions really showed their professionalism and expertise. If you're looking for a painter who delivers high-quality results with a professional touch, we highly recommend T & S Precision Painting We couldn’t be happier with the outcome!"

"The guys at Historic Restoration did a fantastic job. They were right on time everyday of the job. They also completed the job on the day as promised. They were also very helpful and patient with me picking out a paint color. I was also very surprised how CLEAN they were. Everyday they wiped down the entire work area and mopped my wooden floors, leaving virtually no dust (which is inevitable for plaster/drywall work). I barely knew they were there during the job. The paint job was perfect--straight lines and no spills! I would highly recommend this company for any kind of home repair."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.

There shouldn’t be any gaps between your walls and ceiling. These can be fixed with joint compound but that is only a fix, and it’s much better if your drywall fits correctly in the first place. Sometimes gaps can appear if your foundation shifts significantly but if this is the case, you have a much bigger problem than patching drywall.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Plaster itself has a higher R-value than drywall. However, there are other considerations surrounding plaster and insulation. As a general rule, it's easier to obtain consistency in insulating value and quality when working with drywall rather than plaster. Plaster walls often don't contain any insulation behind the wall covering by design, and careful evaluation is necessary when choosing to add it.
