She studied Architecture at the University of Colorado in Boulder and holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Design. As an army brat and nomadic adult, she has lived in a broad range of houses in the U.S. and Europe—the oldest of which was built in 1796. In addition, she has renovated five houses, doing almost all of the work herself. Through this combination of formal schooling and hands-on experience, she has developed a broad knowledge of structural issues, construction practices, building codes, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
