Volts and watts aren’t directly convertible units—they measure different aspects of electricity. Volts measure electrical potential, while watts quantify the power. The easiest way to determine the amperage of your electrical outlets is to check the corresponding breaker in your home’s breaker panel. The number is likely noted on the circuit breaker. If your outlet is only for use in an outdoor kitchen area for standard appliances, then a 15- to 20-amp circuit breaker should work. However, you will need to install a GFCI receptacle or breaker to ensure that the breaker trips on contact with water.

You can tell if a breaker is GFCI by looking for a red or yellow test and reset button that you can press in and out. You’ll know if an outlet is GFCI if the red reset button is located in between the two pronged sections.

You can distinguish the amplitude and voltage of most outlets by looking at the shape and positioning of the holes.
