"They are a nice provider. I talked to them on the phone for about 30 minutes and they sent some samples. We were able to get a discount on designer purchases but not useful on designing the space. Once we told them what we wanted, they were able to help purchase from the warehouse and save about $1,500. I think they became too busy with this big deal. You buy a ticket per room and we still actually have a couple left with this provider. After redesigning one room, we kind of ran out of steam and have not designed the other rooms. Overall this is a good service and it's a good concept. Whomever I spoke with, she was really nice. I would recommend this provider. This kind of service seems to be for people with time and knows exactly what they want. They are super helpful with the designer discount from the warehouse. They don't actual design your room which is slight flaw."

"The technician (Richard) called well ahead of his scheduled arrival time to make sure we were on the premises and gave an estimated time of arrival. When Richard arrived (and on-time), he politely introduced himself, evaluated what needed to be done and rapidly set-up his equipment to begin the cleaning process. We had about 30 yards of carpet, a 10x10 wool area rug that was very soiled/stained and a 3-cushion soft that needed to be cleaned. Richard took the time to do an outstanding job on all three areas. It was obvious he took pride in his work and wanted to satisfy his customers. Also, Sammy does not use a lot of potent chemicals so we felt comfortable with that. As an added touch, Richard left us with some shoe covers so as not to soil the damp carpet, a "green" canvas bag, logo pens and some candy treats. We were more than pleased with the service and the results. Highly recommend."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Paying to reupholster a piece of furniture means you want to hire the right upholstery service, especially for a piece that’s expensive or carries a lot of sentimental value. In your search for the right upholstery company, be sure to:

  • Ask around to see if friends or family know of any upholsterers

  • Find reviews of the company or individual

  • Look at the photo gallery of their work to see if they work on furniture like yours and if you like their work

  • Check qualifications and references

  • Ask the upholstery service if they work on furniture like yours, what their schedule looks like, how they handle payments, and how long the job will take

Yes, you can reupholster antique furniture, and it’s a great way to extend the life of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come. In fact, since reupholstering furniture is significantly more affordable than replacing it, reviving antique furniture can be a cost-effective way to keep that family heirloom usable for much longer. It’s usually a good idea to leave antique reupholstering to a professional, as they will have the tools and expertise to ensure the piece isn’t damaged and looks professionally finished.

Reupholstering is often worthwhile for high-quality, antique, or sentimental couches, especially if the frame is sturdy. It can cost less than buying a comparable new piece and allows for customization, but may not be cost-effective for low-end furniture.

Consider durability, color, texture, room use, and personal style when selecting fabric. Fabrics like linen, cotton, or microfiber offer versatility and strength.

Upholstery reduces waste sent to landfills, limits resource consumption, and supports sustainable living practices, provided fabrics meet standards.
