"My chest freezer broke down and I did not want to buy a new one since I could not afford the same size. I reached out to appliance parts pro and they were confident that what I ordered would fix my problem. $200 in parts later and I now have a broken freezer on my porch and am still paying the loan to this terrible company. They just want you to order parts and try them because they know you can't return them. I hate this company with every fiber of my being and will make sure that anyone that has a broken appliance will not use them. To top it off, their site is so screwed up that it give you an error trying to log back in. I ended up having to create THREE different accounts because every time I went to place a new order, it would not let me login and it would not send a password reset email. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF."

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"Terrible company. Possibly a scam. They attempted to sell me a part they didn't even have, and after waiting patiently for OVER A MONTH, I canceled my order. When calling them to confirm, they told me they never had the part to sell to me. What a joke!"

Small Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

Refinishing gives appliances a refreshed look, extends their lifespan, and is more cost-effective than new purchases. It also allows personalization to match the decor.

Oven repair is considered one of the most complicated appliance repair tasks. The disassembly often needed to diagnose and repair issues could leave your oven beyond repair if it's not done properly. Leave oven repair to the pros.

A convection microwave has two different modes that enable it to operate as a microwave or a convection oven. Inverter microwaves specifically use inverter technology that makes them more effective and able to evenly heat food at a rapid pace. Some convection microwaves use inverter technology, too—the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

In general, yes, it's worth repairing an appliance over replacing it. If the repair will give you more years of reliable service from the oven and the repair costs less than buying a comparable new model, then yes, get it repaired. If, on the other hand, the oven is reaching the end of its life and needs a costly repair, you're likely better off buying a new oven.

One of the best ways to prevent costly repairs is to take good care of your microwave,  including cleaning your microwave regularly. If your microwave is covered in an embarrassing amount of gunk, there are a variety of simple tricks to get your microwave squeaky clean

Common household ingredients like lemons, vinegar, and baking soda will combat grease as effectively as harsh chemical solutions. Microwaves kept in good condition typically last about ten years.
