Fences last anywhere from 10 to 50 years. Metal and glass fences have some of the longest lifespans, while wooden fences have one of the shortest lifespans, lasting around 15 years on average. Routine maintenance, like inspecting the fence, cleaning it, and repairing any sections that need it can go a long way.

The depth of the fence posts depends on the height of your fence. If you’re installing a 6-foot fence, then digging 2-foot-deep holes for the fence posts will help ensure a secure installation.
