"Moved to Beaver Dam during summer of 2020 and hired Fiddlers to do snow removal. I have been very impressed with their great service. They are here quickly after a snowfall and my corner sidewalks and driveway are cleared perfectly. They also do my front porch, steps, and walkway. I can definitely recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"I have a lovely 87 year old stone house that had the original front porch. It needed to be totally replaced. Affordable Concrete removed the old porch and constructed a new one - perfectly! I had a design in mind and they took that design and made excellent suggestions to improve upon it. They were a dream to work with. Paul is an expert in concrete and an artist as well. He truly cares about the end result. He took pains to make sure measurements were precise and the work was does well. He was easy to communicate with, had a lovely sense of humor, a great work ethic and knew his craft inside and out. He instilled trust. I am over the moon about how this turned out. I highly recommend Paul and Affordable Concrete without reservation. You can look forward to an excellent outcome and experience. Thank you, Paul!"

"Wonderful experience. I initially hired BWC to clear my gutters. When that project turned out to be simpler and take less time than at first expected, BWC voluntarily charged me only a little more than half the price we had originally agreed. Since they did not have to do this, I was so happy I hired them to clean my windows and pressure wash my house as well, both of which were also needed. Very personable, responsive, hard-working and professional group. I dealt on the phone mainly with Brenda, who was always pleasant and easy to reach. I would hire them again in a heartbeat."

"They came and did the job. It was delayed a little because of the weather. It was raining so much and then there was snow, so we had to wait until spring before he could come in and clean the gutters. I was charged some more than the $99 of the big deal. The quality of work was okay, he tried to sell me some gutter guards, but I don't want any gutter guards. He got all the gunk out of the gutters. He kept in communication with me. When we made an appointment, the weather was against us, so he kept communicating through Angie's List."

"I use Not Just Lawncare LLC in the spring and the fall to do my yard cleanup. They do whatever trimming is necessary of trees, they pick up all the stuff and patch the yard. They pick up thousands of pine cones. "

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

The best way to save money on snow removal is to sign up for a seasonal contract that guarantees service throughout the entire winter. Most companies charge between $200 and $600 for this service, and they’ll often give you a break on the price if you extend annually. Of course, savings will depend on your area. If you live in a moderate climate where snowfall may or may not occur, you could pay more than you need during a light snow year. Still, it’s usually a safe bet to sign a seasonal contract.

Generally, the cost of ice dam removal is not covered by homeowners insurance because it is often considered preventable maintenance. However, the damage caused by ice dams is frequently covered. Depending on your policy, this can include interior water damage, roof collapses, and damage to shingles. Coverage for personal belongings affected by leaks may vary. It is important to check your policy details or contact your insurer to confirm what your plan covers. Keep in mind that any damage resulting from a DIY attempt to remove an ice dam will likely not be covered.

Whether salt melts ice overnight will depend on how low the temperature drops. If temperatures stay around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, you can count on salt melting ice overnight. Otherwise, the lower temperatures get, the less effective the salt is in melting ice, and the more likely you’ll wake up with a slippery driveway the next day.

Ice dam removal is costly, but it’s absolutely worth it. If you leave an ice dam as is and don’t take care of it, you’re looking at potentially dangerous situations and high-cost repairs—like roof collapse, leaks, mold problems, gutter damage, and more. Removing ice dams is essential to keeping your home and your family safe in the snowy season.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.
