While you could conceivably select any paint finish, paintable wallpaper tends to look its best with a flat or eggshell finish. Remember, achieving desired results with whitewash demands skill and patience, as improper techniques can result in streaks, uneven coverage, or premature flaking, adding complexity to the process.

The answer depends on the garage door itself. If your garage door is flat, a roller is the fastest and easiest way to paint it. A combination of brushes and rollers is best for garage doors with designs or textures. The brush allows you to thoroughly paint all the grooves and angles while the roller speeds up the process on large, flat areas. 

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

Although plastic-sealed paint cans can look tricky, you can open them with adjustable pliers in no time. Grip the plastic seal with the pliers and pull the seal up, moving around the seal until you’ve pried the plastic up in enough spots. Then, you can grab the seal and pop it off the top of the paint can. Depending on the strength of the seal, you may even be able to remove the seal with just your hands by pulling upwards.
