"We procrastinated our roofing job until the end of October....2 layers of shingles removed, add new shingles, sofets and fascia. Found a hidden layer of cedar shakes and new sheeting to put on. Which im sure added about 2 unexpected days to the job. Took it in stride and got the job done. We couldn't be more pleased with the way everything was done. Everything was done exactly how he said it would be and when it would be, he was able to get us everything we asked for. Very clean, friendly courteous staff. Kept us informed every step of the way. Very reasonable and we will be referring MVP Construction to everyone. Thanks again Miles! Tracy and Amy - Amy K"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Before starting a roofing project in Marshfield, schedule a thorough roof inspection for hidden damage, confirm your chosen materials are rated for Midwest winters, and secure all required permits. Clear driveways and walkways for easy contractor access, and remove valuables from attics. Plan your project outside peak snow or storm seasons, and communicate your timeline to neighbors to minimize disruptions during the roof replacement or repair process.

Helpful?

In Marshfield, previous roofing work may need to be redone if you notice ice dams forming along roof edges, shingle blow-offs after strong Midwest storms, or leaks near attic vents during spring thaws. Watch for uneven shingle patterns typical of older gable roofs, exposed fasteners on metal panels, or moss growth from lingering snow. These issues often signal improper roof installation or inadequate winterization.

Helpful?

In Marshfield, hidden costs during roof replacement or repair often arise from discovering rotted decking beneath asphalt shingles, needing to upgrade attic ventilation to handle heavy snow loads, or replacing outdated flashing on steep-pitched roofs. Additional expenses can come from installing ice and water barriers, addressing chimney leaks, or disposing of old cedar shake materials common in older homes. Seasonal weather delays may also affect project timelines.

Helpful?

Your Marshfield home is likely a good candidate for roofing work if it has a roof over 15 years old, visible sagging from snow accumulation, or asphalt shingles with granule loss after hail. Homes with sturdy framing, proper roof pitch for snow shedding, and accessible driveways for material delivery are ideal. If you notice ice dam issues or attic drafts, it’s also a sign your roof may need attention.

Helpful?

During a roofing project in Marshfield, contractors thoroughly inspect the roof deck for rot from snow melt, attic insulation for moisture intrusion, and ventilation systems to prevent ice damming. They also evaluate flashing around dormers and chimneys, check gutters for proper drainage, and assess soffits and fascia for winter weather damage. The roof’s structural integrity is reviewed to ensure it can support new roofing materials.
