"The company called soon after the referral, set up a time and explained in detail what they do and how they clean the carpets. Gave me some info that I never knew before. The man that actually came to do the cleaning was clean, pleasant and very professional and finished in about the time they projected. And the carpet looks brand new. Mr. Moss wife came out Heidi and she was great she does all the bidding according to Mr. Moss and she helped us with color choices, gave us three free samples to choose from which they put on the house big enough for us to make a good decision, and  Mr. & Mrs. Moss showed up did what they said they would do and the quality was awesome, they cleaned up there mess and we were very pleased there cutting in was very good this was a big concern for me.

When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Several factors influence the final price, including the deck's size, material, condition, and how long it has been since its last cleaning. For a smaller deck of about 300 square feet, you might pay around $100. For a larger deck of 1,000 square feet or more, the cost could be closer to $300 to $400. Decks that are very dirty or haven't been cleaned in years may require more time and special detergents, which will increase the price. The deck's material also plays a role. Wood decks often cost more to clean because they require a gentle power washing technique to avoid damage. Composite decks are typically less expensive to clean, and cleaning a metal deck may cost around $100.

As with patios, there are many types of deck choices to choose from to add personalization to your home. Some common deck options include:

  • Attached decks are anchored to the home and include simple ground-level options or multi-level structures with stairways and separate landings. 

  • Detached island decks are not attached to the home; they’re a freestanding structure in the yard. 

  • Wraparound decks connect the back of the house with at least one other side and often are built with railings for safety.

Cutting the boards directly is one of the fastest ways to remove deck boards with hidden fasteners. Mark two parallel lines that are one-third of the total measurement on both ends and cut out the centerpiece. Then, remove the end of the board that doesn’t have a fastener. Finally, pry open the fastened side and pull it up to pop out the screw or access the fastener. This also allows you to salvage portions of boards for other projects.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.
