"Kevin was very professional and so easy to work with! His estimate was beyond fair, much less than I anticipated. Very accommodating when he scheduled the job and arrived on time to complete the work. Kevin removed my old crumbling chimney and replaced it with a new B Vent. He cleaned up the entire area and removed all old bricks. I couldnâ t be happier with his work! I will definitely recommend All For One Chimney!"

"We hired Janesville Chimney and Fireplace to clean and inspect our chimney. He showed upon time and did a very good job. Very nice young man and we were charged a fair price. We feel safer now knowing the chimney has been cleaned and inspected. Thank you Janesville Chimney and Fireplace."

Hi, my name is Kyra! I am currently a Cybersecurity student attending Fox Valley Technical College. I've finished my first year, and I was put on the Dean's List. I am very hardworking in school, but also in my living environment. I am very clean, and I clean for others around me often. As of recently, I have not been living in a constant home, unfortunately. A goal I have is to be able to afford an apartment soon, so that I can support myself! Even though I am only 20 years old, I have Arthritis, and I've had it since I was 5 years old. There are certain limitations I have, but I usually am able to find workarounds to still get the job done successfully. I look forward to meeting you!

"They did a good job of cleaning the duct work in  my home.  They were very professional and punctual.  I would however caution that if you purchase the Angies List low cost offer, be aware that you will probably pay more that the price listed.  That is because they cover only one return air duct in the offer.  If you are typical, you will have several return air ducts in your home, I had six, and they charge $33 for each duct except for the first one.  I paid $165 extra. They also charge extra for any more than one main line in the home.  I had two and was charged $65 extra.  I also added a sanitation treatment for $75.  So, the $179 deal cost me a total of $305 plus the original $179.  While the Angie's List add mentions that one return and one main line are covered, They neglect to tell you all the extras, and also don't explain the usual costs to a typical home. They also do not have a live person at the contact phone number.  You must call them and then they call you back.  That is not a customer friendly way to interact with customers.  I probably won't have them back in the future.

Fireplace Cleaners questions, answered by experts

You can turn a red brick white through a process called whitewashing. Whitewash isn’t a stain but rather is made from water and white latex paint. Adding more water to the mix will make the solution look lighter when applied, and adding more paint will make it look more white.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

The most inexpensive option is to paint the brick facing of your existing fireplace. You can create an interesting design with the right color of paint, as long as the brick is in good shape. Sometimes, simply cleaning the brick fireplace makes a big difference in the way it looks. Otherwise, covering an existing stone, brick, or masonry fireplace facing with stucco or concrete is an inexpensive option versus tearing out the existing material and refacing the fireplace.

Knowing who to hire to install your fireplace is important when it comes to having a safe place to burn a fire in your home. The best person to contact for installing fireplaces is a mason or general contractor who has a National Fireplace Institute (NFI) specialist certification. If you’re installing wood paneling, then it’s a good idea to also find a pro who is Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT)-certified.

Both of these certifications show that your pro is well-equipped to install fireplaces and inspect your home for the utmost safety.

When it comes to painting your bricks, you’ve got a few options. Traditionally, lime wash (a mix of aged, burned, and crushed lime and water) was used to whitewash brick or stone. You can also find premixed brick whitewash paint that cuts out a few steps and lets you get started faster. However, for the best results, we recommend using a DIY whitewash (white acrylic paint mixed with water).
