We take great pride our experience, expertise, quality, and customer service that we provide to meet the consumer's needs. "Worst experience ever! Jon Dodd caused hundreds of dollars of damage to our house and would never admit to do doing it. I have over 30 pics to document the damages when he worked here. When confronted, he would not tell the truth, ever! Knew he put a shelf in wrong but took a chance and did not mention it. (He did admit it later) The shelf fell and broke $300 in wedding dishes. He is NEVER on time. Denied putting the big scratches in our brand new $800 sink. His paint sprayer was bad and leaking, yet he still tried to use it and wasted over $150 in Kilz and got it all over the floor, tracked it upstairs and never cleaned it up. He broke an antique mirror and denied doing it when he was the only one in our house! A job that we were guaranteed would take 3 days ended up taking over 5 WEEKS because he would not show up even after saying he would be there in text, and denied it until I showed him his own text! Stood us up several times. He is an immature pathological liar that I am convinced does not have the ability to ever tell the truth or admit guilt. His last screw up was installing a cabinet door (FINALLY) and stripping out the screws in the bottom hinge. Then telling me it was installed and ran out and drive away before I found it out. I am filing charges against him for all the damages and to get all the overspray cleaned up on all my furniture that he never covered, including $150 for a new internet/TV modem that barely works now because of the overspray that is now inside it. Jon does not have even the simplest of skills, and causes more harm than good. He can not even chalk without smearing it all over! Do not ever trust him!!"

I have been a self-employed licensed contractor for 30+ years. I stay up to date on all building regulations and codes through continuing education classes. For bigger projects I set up sub-contractors when needed and assume the role of general manager.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tile floor installation costs about $1,900 on average. The low end of the price range is about $400 up to about $6,000 or more on the high end. Several cost factors include the size of the area, the shape of the floor, the complexity of the pattern, the type of tile chosen, and labor rates in your area. Additional cost factors include the amount of preparation needed and any additional materials like subfloor or backer board.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Like glass tiles, you will not need to seal most porcelain tiles, particularly if the porcelain is already glazed. It depends on quality. Porcelain is very water resistant, but it is not 100% waterproof. To avoid staining, some homeowners use a penetrating sealer. It is also a good idea to seal your grout. Unless you use epoxy grout, grout is very porous and can harbor bacteria, mold, and mildew.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.
