"I was very satisfied with the service provided. I felt the individuals involved were very professional and pleasant to deal with. They came to site and provided a thorough estimate on paper before starting project. They communicated by internet with photos to keep me informed of progress of project. They returned phone calls promptly. They cleaned up area nicely and planted grass seed when project was complete. They obviously make an effort to keep customers happy."

"Aaron arrived when he said he would. We walked the property site and discussed what I needed done. He went right to work. He was mindful of the neighbors property lines and was careful not to disturb the area. My job was small, filling in a hole left by a 30 foot round pool. I didn't expect any additional landscaping because of the price we agreed on before he started, however Aaron went above and beyond and not only smoothed out the area but feathered out and blended the surrounding terrain. He did 100 percent more than I expected. Actually the area looks better than before we put the pool in. Aaron portrayed a keen seance of professionalism and attention to detail. I would highly recommend A&R Landscaping for your excavation, Landscaping needs."

"Customer service was top notch- we started with a 4 acre wooded lot and we had started clearing it ourselves and had many stumps and some more trees to take down. They gave an estimate via photos and email since job site was over an hour away which worked great. Worked til job was finished and did so in a timely manner. We also added clearing a new driveway after the fact and did amazing job. Great communication - would definitely hire again and give referral. Photos are Before and afters."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Watch for persistent standing water or basement leaks after heavy rain, which indicate poor drainage from past excavating. Sinkholes and uneven settling in your yard point to improperly compacted soil. In Eagle River, worsening foundation cracks after winter signal severe frost heave damage. Additionally, wet spots or sewage odors over your drain field mean your septic system grading requires immediate correction.

Helpful?

You must determine whether to pull permits through the city or county before starting your excavating project. You also need to mark your private well and septic system to prevent accidental damage. In Eagle River, you must coordinate with state authorities for shoreland zoning compliance near lakes. Finally, you are responsible for contacting the local utility hotline to mark underground lines safely.

Helpful?

Plan your excavating around the deep 48-inch frost line in WI, as frozen ground persists into April. You must account for the spring thaw, which makes soil unstable for heavy equipment. Eagle River features glacial soils and high water tables that complicate drainage. You must also follow strict shoreland zoning rules if your property sits within 300 feet of a navigable lake.

Helpful?

Completing excavating before the ground freezes in November keeps your project on schedule and avoids frost complications. Grading your yard before Eagle River's heavy spring snowmelt protects your foundation from flooding. Long-term, proper excavation prevents basement water intrusion and stops shoreline erosion on lakefront properties. Digging foundations to the required 48-inch WI frost depth also prevents structural damage from frost heave.

Helpful?

Gather your property survey and plat map to establish clear boundaries and setback lines before starting your excavating project. Document the exact locations of your private well, septic system, and any buried utilities. In Wisconsin, you must also provide photos of current drainage patterns and confirm if your Eagle River property falls within a designated shoreland zone or floodplain.
