Providing sustainable remodel design solutions by sourcing items from local small businesses, and repurposing furniture to provide unique design alternatives. We have a community of local makers who are exceptional at their craft. We partner with them to build pieces designed for your home, without relying on big box stores for materials. We have a supply of finishings, and are capable of sourcing nearly any item through our ethical sourcing practices. We manage the design, space planning, and sourcing of finish materials for remodels. Approach to Design: I try to imagine that there isn’t already a playbook in place in terms of what function each piece serves. I like to look at a space to understand the need, and come up with solutions which make sense functionally, while aligning that with the aesthetic goals. Walking into a bathroom or kitchen tells me storage is needed, but what that storage solution looks like does not have limitations. My unique design solutions are often pulled from the years I lived in Europe. I was able to take home ideas I hadn't yet seen locally, and bring them to life in unexpected spaces.

"Shauna is amazing to work with. You know those people that really, really listen to what you want? She's one of those people. She added so much creativity to designs that I would have never even thought about. She has such a unique and cool vibe and style. I love that she's sustainable and sourcing locally. Makes me feel good, like my money is going to locals instead of a big biz somewhere. She's super well connected with her community."

Practical life coaching addresses physical spaces. Getting our start helping friends & family with coaching & organizing projects, we now share over a decade of experience serving as a professional service. We focus on Command Centers, Weekly Planning Systems, personal projects and specific areas by request. Our passion is creating & designing efficient systems that are empowering and customized to your specific needs.

"I reached out to ms. Johnson to help improve my leadership skills for a new management position I had accepted. I had held the position for 2 months and I wasn't satisfied with the efficiency of the crew, the moral of the crew or my relationship with the crew. Suzanne responded to me within a few hours of reaching out to her and had several options for conducting the training/counseling. Since I live in a different state than her that was very helpful to me. After one session and a few conversations with her everything about my attitude at work and home has improved drastically. the crew is working as a team, moral is up, production efficiency has improved, men are becoming teachable. My job is becoming what I hoped and expected it to be when I accepted the position. Suzanne's guidance made all of this possible."

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.

The main difference between a home stager and an interior designer is that the former creates temporary, generally appealing spaces, while the latter creates personalized design choices for your permanent home. A home stager seeks to depersonalize your home while also showing off the best features of the home to potential buyers. An interior designer works with you to infuse your personal style into the decor in your home. You’ll typically only hire a local home stager when selling your home.

It’s unnecessary to tip holiday decorators, and most professionals won’t expect it, but it’s a nice gesture to show your appreciation for their work. If the expert goes above and beyond to keep your delicate decorations safe, or they’re hanging your exterior lights and putting out lawn decorations in freezing temperatures or inclement weather, a tip between 10% and 20% of your total will be appreciated. Large jobs that include interior and exterior work are also good opportunities to tip, especially if your expert is performing a rush job close to the holidays.

Longer curtains can visually extend the height of a space, especially if they are hung on a rod that sits above the window frame. Place the rod up to 20 inches above the windows to open up a space. And while sill-length curtains are still common, many homeowners today prefer the floor-length look for a more open and airy vibe.

Hiring someone to decorate your Christmas tree costs about $400 on average, ranging from $200 to $1,500 or more, depending on the type of decorating service, size of the tree, location, and materials used to decorate the tree. Price ranges vary by service type:
