"We moved into our new house over the weekend of 6/16/18-6/17/18. Our original carpet installers neglected to schedule us for carpet installation. I searched on Home Advisor for carpet installer near me & received a call instantly from Dave St. Vincent w/Taco's Carpet Services. He was very professional & very nice on the phone. He was able to come out that Monday and install carpet in both rooms that needed it. He even picked up the carpet & supplies from the place we ordered it from & brought it all out with him. We are very thankful he was able to install it on such short notice! If it weren't for Dave we would have had to leave our bedroom furniture in storage for 2 more weeks. Thank you so much Dave! I would highly recommend them!"

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Regular vacuuming is essential in homes with animals and children to remove pet hair, dirt, and debris from the carpet's surface. Additionally, prompt cleaning of spills and accidents can prevent stains from setting in. Consider using carpet protectors or area rugs in high-traffic areas to minimize wear and tear on your new carpeting.

The best way to fix carpet matting is to start by vacuuming thoroughly in multiple directions to lift the flattened fibers. For more stubborn spots, apply moisture with an ice cube or steam, then fluff the carpet using a spoon, comb, or carpet brush. A blow dryer or warm iron over a damp towel can also help restore the carpet’s texture. For deep or widespread matting, a professional cleaning is your best bet to fluff your carpet back up to its former glory.

If you want to save money on carpet repairs, there are a few ways to save without sacrificing quality. Some options you have include:

  • Cleaning set-in stains by renting a steam cleaner or using DIY carpet cleaning methods

  • Prepare the area for repairing yourself, such as moving furniture, to avoid unnecessary fees.

  • Protect high-traffic areas with a runner rug to avoid excessive wear and tear.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.
