AAE concrete and construction llc specializes in all things flatwork(stamped, colored, hard trowel finish, broomed). We also do offer some construction services such as decks, framing, and small remodels. We approach every job as of it was our own. No short cuts, done just the way it should be. No job nor too small AAE can handle them all.

"Driveway looks great, work was done timely. Only negative is we had lots of cleanup afterwards."

Decorative Concrete questions, answered by experts

In general, you can expect concrete to last 30 to 50 years. However, the type of concrete, site prep, and climate all affect how long concrete lasts. The proper removal of rocks and tree roots before installation can prevent cracks later on. While concrete takes little maintenance, repairing small cracks as they appear can also extend the life of the concrete.

DIY is possible for small areas. Professional installation ensures proper leveling and finishing for durability.

You have different options depending on the scale of repair needed. If you are repairing minor cracks that are between ¼ inch to 1.5 inch wide and less than half an inch deep, a self-leveling polyurethane sealant would be your best choice. Polyurethane sealants dry to the touch within one to two hours. Since they come in a tube applier, you also have the option to complete the repair without emptying out your garage.

When you are laying hardwood flooring—or any other material that does not flex well with humidity—you will want to check the moisture level of your subfloor before proceeding. Flooring like luxury vinyl tile and bamboo performs better than more rigid materials in environments where moisture might be present. However, thorough testing is always an excellent preventative measure to control and monitor water in your home.

No, wet concrete will not bond to dry concrete without an additional bonding agent. The common alternative is adding a sand or gravel layer under a concrete slab to enhance bonding and create a stable foundation. The right choice depends on the height and thickness of your two slabs, local laws, and the use of the specific concrete slab.
