Here at Shine and Shade we have 1-2 guys on deck for the summer detailing season. Tinting is one of our specialties. We take credit cards but like most people prefer to deal with the real thing. We are a full service restoration contractor. We do every phase of construction. Our specialties are restoration for insurance companies, flood and water damage, fire damage, mold remediation, carpet cleaning, duct cleaning. We want all 5's on our customer surveys and want to make sure you know that before we start. When it comes to drying a water damage, we can get it dry in 1 or 2 days where all of our competition takes 3 days to 2 weeks. Where dreams are restored!

Silestone® isn’t recommended for outdoor use because UV rays can damage the surface. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight can cause discoloration. Instead, choose an outdoor-friendly countertop material like tile, concrete, stainless steel, or natural stone. If you do choose a natural stone, make sure you either seal it or avoid highly porous stones. For example, choose soapstone over marble.

Acid can seriously damage granite countertops and lead to etching and erosion. This is why cleaning with vinegar isn’t recommended. Other acidic items that you should keep away from your granite countertops include:

  • Citrus

  • Acetone nail polish remover

  • Tomatoes

  • Ammonia

In addition, always steer clear of using bleach on or around your granite as it will degrade the countertop’s sealant quickly.

Sweep daily, use appropriate cleaners, and avoid abrasive tools to maintain the shine.

If you would rather use vinegar to clean the stone fireplace instead of dish soap, this mixture should work fine. Vinegar is slightly acidic, however, so it may etch some kinds of stone without quite a bit of diluting. For a stone fireplace, dilute it to about one cup of vinegar for every gallon of hot water.
