Captain's Custom Shop is a family-owned custom cabinet maker and finish carpentry service based in Kingston, WA, serving Kitsap County and the greater Seattle area. We specialize in made-to-order cabinetry, built-ins, millwork, and precision finish carpentry — from kitchen and bath to whole-home trim packages.\nWe're a true design-and-build shop — the craftsman who helps you design your project is the same one who builds and installs it. Every project starts in CAD, so you can see detailed renderings and picture your new space before the first board is ever cut. That design then drives our CNC machinery, cutting every component to the finest tolerances. From there, each piece is assembled and finished by hand — delivering craftsmanship that can't come from a factory. All of our cabinets are Made to Measure, and Built to Brag.

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"I got a new exhaust fan and ventilation put in my master bathroom. Being a busy woman, I really liked how careful and quick she was all the way through. She made sure the fan was the right size for the room. You can really tell the difference, no more humidity or bad smells hanging around. Everything was cleaned up nice and I felt good having her in my house. Highly recommended"

"I hired Eugene to paint ceilings in our bathrooms, master bedroom and kitchen which he accomplished very professionally in one day. As a small additional project, I asked him to repaint some trim around a closet that had been damaged by a leak from the roof. He scrapped off the old paint then applied a sealant before repainting. When the paint dried, it was full of minute cracks. So, I called him back and he realized that he inadvertently used the wrong type of sealant. He removed the sealant and paint and completely redid the job with the right sealant and the trim now looks great. It was a small mistake, but he promptly remedied the situation."

"It was great. They guys were professional, polite and took great care with my furniture. Did even scrape any walls and I had a tight turn at the bottom of the stairs where they moved the massage chair."

Closets questions, answered by experts

To prevent sagging, consider both the material and the span of the shelf. Using sturdy materials such as plywood or solid wood can provide better support than particleboard. Additionally, limiting the shelf span to 36 inches or less can reduce the risk of sagging. For longer shelves, incorporating center supports or brackets can offer additional reinforcement.

Although you can complete a closet frame in just an afternoon, finishing the entire closet will take a few days to a week. However, that’s still not as much as the average time it takes to remodel a closet, which can take anywhere from several weeks to more than a month. That’s because you also have to consider the time it will take to demolish the existing space, plan a new design, order materials, and actually install it.

The features you choose for your laundry room to make it perfect depend largely on how you'll use the space, the size of your family, and their laundry needs. A perfect laundry room will have ample storage space, a clothes washer and dryer that are large enough for your needs and have good convenience features, and enough room to move around and work with enough countertop space to make laundry chores as easy as possible.

Costs depend on material, customization level, and additional features like lighting or sliding doors.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.
