Small jobs welcome

"This company is prompt, and does exactly what they say they will do. The work efficiently, and turn out a beautiful product. I am very satisfied with my new driveway. I is everything I expected and more. They were going to seal if for me this fall, but because of the crazy weather and temperatures, they were unable to do that. However, they will come back in the spring and take care of that job. I think these guys are superior. One particular thing that I really appreciated with this company, all of the employees that came to work on my project were extremely friendly and upbeat. I never saw a cross word between any of the men, which I appreciated greatly. Very different that some companies I have had do work for me that are grumpy all the time and act as if they are doing you a favor to even show up. Not this company, they all were very enthusiastic all of time. Thank you Ferraro Concrete Company for the outstanding work at my house. My entire neighborhood as made comments to me about how nice it looks. dick"

"While I would recommend this business - I would only do so if people understood what they should expect. We hired them to replace our driveway and walkway. The overall finished project was good but the communication between us and the company and the workers was not. We had the work done two months ago and still have a punch list of items that we now assume will never be taken care of since we cannot get Ryan out to talk to us despite repeated calls and emails. The remaining issues are: 1) There is a swale on one side of the driveway that goes up (kind of a lump) 2) The drain is crooked on one side 3) There are already cracks along the middle seam of the driveway 4) There are divots from the excavator 5) The edge of the walkway is uneven 6) There is a footprint on the front porch - in the concrete (photo sent) 7) There is cement up the side of the house - on the exterior wall of the garage 8) There WAS still a piece of rebar driven into the lawn by the walkway until (without letting us know) - someone came on to our property and pulled it out at some time which was very weird 9) We were told that they would be putting a mesh in the driveway and then pulling it up into the concrete for stability but that did not happen. Instead, they included some sort of **mesh**, in the concrete mix and then charged us extra for it. Basically - we started out happy with the work for the price and now are OK with the work but very disappointed in the experience."

Concrete Walls questions, answered by experts

For handy homeowners, concrete projects are DIYable, and DIYing is a good way to save on the cost of a concrete slab, walkway, or other concrete work. If you’re completing a larger project or one that’s subject to building codes, you should always hire a professional to ensure the job is done safely and correctly.

It’s possible to pour concrete if the temperatures are expected to dip below freezing at night, but you need to take some special precautions before you do. Most importantly, you need to make sure your concrete won’t freeze, so the best thing to do is enclose the area and heat it. You should also make sure you’re using cold-weather concrete that’s designed for pouring in cold weather. Use accelerants to help speed up the curing process and avoid cold temperatures from resulting in weak concrete.

In most cases, yes, masons can build concrete forms and pour concrete for a variety of home improvement projects, including foundation pouring. Some masons may prefer to focus on more aesthetic and artistic masonry work, like building retaining walls, crafting custom fireplaces, tiling, or installing stucco siding, but most also have experience pouring concrete. You can always ask your masonry contractor if they also handle poured concrete projects.

Aim for a concrete thickness of at least 4 inches for the walls of your above-ground storm shelter and 3.0 to 3.5 cubic yards of concrete for the base of your storm shelter. If you’re concerned about the thickness of your concrete while building a storm shelter, get in touch with a professional storm shelter builder to make sure your work is up to code and safe.

Yes. Foundation walls are always load-bearing.
