TILT Excavation and Land Clearing is a small, family owned business located in Davenport, WA. We believe in showing our children that you can make a career out of doing the things you love. And if they're like us, they aren't going to lose the joy of operating machinery and seeing how much of a difference we can make at any job we come to! We love to see the transformation we can make at your property, just as much as you do. Whether you need to demo an old shed or get your site preparation done for your home - we got you covered. We believe in getting the job done right and communicating with you throughout the project. After all, we wouldn't be in business if it wasn't for you, and we do not take that for granted. Feel free to reach out to us for a quote - we'd love to help you! Thank you for considering us, and we hope to talk to you soon. - Brooke and Trever

"I was very satisfied with the work they did for us. We were selling a farm house property and at the last minute the buyer's mortgage company required that a large dilapidated barn be removed before the sale could close. Because of our short timeline and the location's rural location, we had a hard time finding an contractor. TILT offered a bid at a reasonable price and did the job exceedingly well. There was a hiccup due to contradictory instructions given by some family members, but we cleared it up and TILT responded well. Overall, they were very responsive to phone calls and requests. We then hired them to do a second job of cleaning junk out of a two-car garage at another property."

"Lisa is a genius! With creativity and precision, she maximized every nook and cranny of our tiny 1906 cottage and brought it into the 21st century, while maintaining its original charm and character. Our "new" home is so much more functional now, and a delight to live and work in. Lisa took the lead on our projects (kitchen, bathroom, basement), but Adam is equally savvy. Both are fantastic listeners, brainstormers, collaborators, total professionals and all-around lovely human beings. We highly recommend Christie Architecture, and look forward to working with them again in the future!"

Baker & Son Construction has more than 45 years extensive experience in every aspect of building, developing, remodeling and reconstruction. We will get your job done on time and on budget. Our team has the highest standards and stand behind every detail in the construction process. Client trust, attention to detail and a commitment to excellence are our highest goals, and our customers have proved their trust over and over by giving us their return business and recommending us to their friends and family.

"The project was essentially a remodel of a circa 1950's beach cabin with a small addition. We chose Baker and Son on the recommendation of our neighbor who had used them to build a detached garage. Our plans were relatively simple at first: build the addition, expand the kitchen, build a new bathroom and create a new entry. As work was underway, it became clear through the advice of Baker and Son that our kitchen was too big and out of scale for the cabin. We ended up eliminating some walls and opening up the cabin in such a way that created one large room but still a separate kitchen, dining and living. It was a huge improvement to the original design. In addition to the interior work, Baker and Son completely overhauled the exterior which included new windows and siding. New structural headers were required because they didn't exist. Also, since the cabin is post and pier construction, they leveled and strengthen the existing structure. Work included new skirting as well. Their attention to detail was very impressive. They are masters at creative problem solving, patient, responsive and positive. They have a very strong sense of design. We were never pressured into quick decisions. The contract arrangement for our project was essentially time and material because formulating a bid on an old cabin remodel would involve too many unknowns. We agreed to a fair hourly rate and all material and subcontracted work we paid directly with no additional overhead or fee. This saved us money. Since we lived out of town, Baker and Son were so well connected with various vendors and subcontractors, it simplified making arrangements. Now that our project is complete, we are so excited about the end result! We would highly recommend using Baker and Son Construction for any project."

"I was surprised it only took about 4hours total, even with the last minute change we requested. My biggest concern was not to lose indoor light. Everything turned out beautifully!"

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Creating a screen room is one of the most cost-effective ways to enclose a patio so you can still use it in the winter. Most screen rooms aren’t insulated, so you’ll need to wrap up warm or use patio heaters in winter. Also, be aware they might not hold up well if you live in a location where heavy snow is common.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.

Yes, professionals offer eco-conscious options that balance durability and sustainability.

The cheapest material for covering a tennis court is rubber or clay. Rubber needs to be installed over a concrete or asphalt base, however, which can make the project more expensive up-front (but cheaper to resurface over time). Clay courts are among the most affordable, but they aren’t the best to play on and require a lot of maintenance.

It’s not a good idea to allow heavy rain to fall on your awning, as puddling can occur and overload the awning. Your awning should be able to handle a light rain, though you should allow it to dry out before retracting it or open it to dry as soon as the rain stops. As always, consult manufacturer guidelines for using and caring for your awning.
