Squirrels tend to forage, traveling along roof and fence lines. To trap a squirrel, placing a baited trap on the roof near the point of entry is the best option. If you can see them going in and out or recognize the damage they might be causing to the exterior of your home, you can also try placing traps near those locations.

Avoid plants that aphids love, and consider increasing natural predators that keep aphids at bay. Birds, wasps, and ladybugs play roles in balancing out aphid infestations, so add pollinator plants and habitats to your yard that attract birds and other aphid predators.

Neither the black widow nor the brown recluse are deadly spiders, and North America has no deadly species. However, other places in the world do, including Australia, which is home to the funnel web spider, considered the world’s deadliest spider. However, Australia has not reported deaths from a funnel web spider bite over the past few decades after developing an antivenom.

Gophers are ubiquitous in certain areas, and the only way to completely get rid of them is to put down gopher wire two feet below the surface of your soil and vertically along the edges of your yard. Unfortunately, this may not be a practical solution unless you’re completely redoing your yard or installing an aboveground garden. Alternatively, you may consider putting underground rock barriers around the edge of your yard to discourage gopher visits. However, you’ll still likely get some pests because they can dig as deep as 6 feet below the surface.
