When I returned home aside from the tree being totally Removed Yet they did such a great job of cleaning up the job site there was no signs of any work Having been done. I would highly recommend this company and would hire them again with no hesitation"

"My giant cherry tree fell over at 5pm and I called Brian for emergency tree removal. The next morning, he had a crew out to chop down and chip the tree. He then came out with the stump grinder and took care of the rest. It was all done by 1:00pm!! I cannot recommend Sound Stump more highly. I was in a situation where the rest of the tree could have fallen and done serious damage to property. Brian saved the day; the arborists were incredibly kind, conscientious, and helpful, which I especially appreciated in an emergency. This is an exemplary company. Thank you, Brian!"

"These guys are great. After another contractor we have used for several years canceled, then dropped us completely, we had to search for a replacement. Strongwall showed up as promised, gave a reasonable quote, and did exactly what we asked. Most important, they are good at what they do. Our job included thinning both deciduous and conifer trees. The results were very professional. Notable is the exceptional job they did of cleanup, better than any other contractor we have employed. We highly recommend Strongwall Landscaping."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.

If you’re wondering whether you can plant a tree where the stump was removed, know that the soil conditions won’t be ideal, so you should avoid it. The soil beneath the previous tree will likely be depleted of nutrients, plus there may be roots left behind that will seriously hinder the growth of a new tree. Also, if you use salt or other chemical solutions to kill the stump, these can linger in the soil for months or even years and prevent healthy growth. It’s best to choose a different spot that’s at least three feet away for a new tree, or wait at least a year and thoroughly amend the soil before you plant.

No, you should never top maple trees. Topping injures the tree and leads to the rapid growth of a weak canopy, which can be hazardous to rooftops and utility lines. Removing the crown can also leave the interior bark vulnerable to sun damage, leading to insects and disease. A topped tree can also reduce property value and permanently damage the appearance of a tree.

There are four common ways to prune a tree correctly: crown thinning, crown reduction, crown raising, and crown cleaning. The method you choose depends on the purpose of pruning. However, making the correct cuts is a vital part of the process, regardless of your method. Pruning incorrectly can damage or even kill the tree. So, you may want to hire a professional tree-trimming company to tackle the task.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.
