"Aaron is a consummate professional along with being a truly "nice guy". He was happy to allow me to watch as he diagnosed my propane furnace problems, and shared his reasons with me as to what he was doing. My furnace had been attempting to start, then would shut down before starting up again, sometimes not successfully. After fixing a limit switch problem, he checked the burner venturi's which were clean. Then he checked the propane pressure and found that it was lower than the recommended value for the furnace. After adjusting the pressure, the furnace worked properly. Aaron also checked my gas fireplace and found that a switch was out of position, preventing the controls from working properly. Aaron was friendly, professional, competent and reasonable. I would highly recommend him for any work of furnaces or other HVAC Equipment."

"My request for an HVAC system through Homeadvisor was very clear. The home does not have an existing furnace or ductwork. When the salesperson called, I explained that the home needed a furnace and ductwork. The agent said no problem we can handle that. Unfortunately, the sales agent that came today informed us that the company does not do new ductwork installation. They only perform repairs or replace furnaces. He did offer a mini-split solution, which isn't viable for our home due to power outages. Very frustrating and a total waste of my time and David Shelton the Comfort Consultant that came to our home."

"Update 10/07 — I had an electrical issue with a washer/dryer (due to manufacturer error), and texted Tripped for help at 1pm. They had someone drive out immediately (my home is in a VERY remote location), and Marqus arrived by 3pm. The issue was fixed by 3:45pm. This company has EXCELLENT service, and I could not recommend them enough!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Most AC repair technicians will take between two and six hours to carry out repairs, depending on the work needed and the accessibility of the unit. For example, recharging refrigerant lines should take one to two hours to service, while replacing a compressor, blower fan, or other major components can take five to eight hours. You can ask your AC repair technician how long they expect the job to take, but just in case, you should plan on being home and available for most of the day.

You might notice that your air conditioner isn’t running as effectively as it once did. Specifically, your AC unit could take longer to cool your home, or it might struggle to remove humidity from the air. Higher utility bills and hissing sounds coming out of your AC could also indicate a leak.

An AC inspection costs anywhere from $75 to $200, while a full HVAC system inspection that includes your furnace ranges from $200 to $450. While there's a cost to a home AC inspection, it can save you hundreds or thousands in the long run by catching problems, avoiding breaks, and saving you money on your utility bills.

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. However, it’s a nice way of showing your appreciation for the work they do, especially if they come out in inclement weather or on a weekend or holiday to fix an emergency issue if your heat or AC goes out in extreme temperatures. A good tip would be between 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how above and beyond the tech goes for your repair and on the total cost of your HVAC repair or service. For something like a routine tune-up or scheduled maintenance, tips aren’t expected.

Yes, it is possible. An electrical fire can break out if the compressor has inadequate ventilation. When it overheats but doesn't have a proper thermal cutout, this can cause the motor to short-circuit and catch fire. This risk is exacerbated if flammable materials, like dust and fallen leaves, are clogging the unit. The compressor overheating won't start a fire by itself, but poor maintenance and installation can increase the risk once it hits its breaking point and short-circuits.
