by the house for cash up front because he said that he needed to get to it first before the loggers and it would be delivered in 2 weeks. Needless to say, 2 weeks came and went, 4 weeks came and went. When my husband called, he gave excuse after excuse about why it wasn't here. By September 1st we still had no wood so my husband asked for a full refund. He said "check's in the mail". He only lives in Newport and we in Sutton so it should take no more than 2 days to get a check. By Friday, still no check at which point he admitted he never sent one. For 2 weeks he has been making promises that his wife or brother would bring the check by thus and such a day. On Saturday by husband said if he didn't have it by 9am, he was going to the authorities. At 9 on the dot, his brother pulled along side our house and laid on the horn. My husband went out and was given half of his money back with the promise that by Monday he'd have the rest. It is now Wednesday and he has said he doesn't have the money so now we are forced to take him to court! I maintained that it was their fault that they got the size of the truck wrong and while I would pay for any extra time the movers spent packing a second truck, I should not have to pay another $2000 (as if it were two separate moves) for them to get the truck needed to correct their mistake including the time it took to get the truck to me. This was their fault, not mine. I gave them all the information they asked for. I turned down their offer, which meant I would be stuck with having to find someone else by the next day. So the movers drove off with the truck they had packed to the moving company's premises where it would stay for the night, and the drive to Vermont would take place the next morning. That's when one of the company's managers showed up at my door (after a significant drive from their offices). He was standing outside my door with a clipboard and something for me to sign. He had come to me with a different contract than the first one I had signed with a new estimate because he said packing the first truck took more time than he had anticipated. I told him that it was unnecessary to sign a new contract because the first contract I signed said I would be obligated to pay whatever the estimate didn't cover. But he kept insisting that I sign a second contract, which would take the place of the first one. I kept pressing him about why I needed to sign another estimate and he finally said, "Because it gives the company better 'standing.'" Which means, of course, in case I sue them. And then he gave me another paper to sign that said I was paying the entire NEW ESTIMATE now. I told him that my contract says (including the new one he was asking me to sign) that I pay half the estimate on signing and the balance of the real cost of the move when the furniture is delivered. He said it was too late; they had already taken the entire sum of the new estimate out of my bank account. (I had used my bankcard to pay the initial 50% of the old estimate.) He said they had taken the entire sum because they were afraid I wasn't going to pay them. So if I criticize your company, I said, for what was clearly your error that means you can breach your own contract. He said I had to sign the new estimate and sign the paper that said I had paid the estimate in full (as if it was mutually agreed). I told him I wasn't going to sign these documents. There was no need for a new contract and I did not give them permission to take money out of my account before the furniture was delivered. AND THEN HE THREATENED ME (and remember this is standing at the front door of my house because I wouldn't let him inside). He said that if I didn't sign the documents, they would take all my furniture off the truck and put it in storage (remember, they had already driven off with 80% of my furniture) and I would have to pay storage fees and then I would have to pay for a whole new estimate to pack the truck again and move the furniture again. I almost called the police. But I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, I only had one more day to get out of the house before the new tenants arrived, and it was Labor Day weekend, and U-Haul told me there wasn't another truck to rent anywhere in the entire state of Massachusetts. Nevertheless, I did not take them up on their offer to bring in another truck to finish the job for another $2000. But it still remained that I was supposed to sign these documents -- both meant to protect them from litigation since they had breached their own contract by taking the entire NEW estimate from the SECOND contract out of my bank account and then requiring me to sign a new contract with a new estimate so that it could replace the first and there would be no paper trail of their initial estimate error. I was forced to do this because they had my furniture and were threatening to keep it and charge me more and more. If I had deep pockets and more time and if I weren't a single woman alone with a dog, I would have fought them. But I just didn't have the resources or the time. So I was forced to sign and pay. Needless to say, I felt completely violated. And since I refused to pay another $2000 to have them move the rest of my furniture that couldn't fit into the truck, I had to find another truck the following day and find people willing to pack it so I could get the rest of my furniture out of the house.

The owner called me that Angus was missing and informed me that she had contacted my vet and his instructions were that I should return to the kennel and start looking and calling for him. Of course, we returned as fast as we could drive. We were frantic when we reached the kennel; the young woman met us with a bowl of Angus's favorite treats that I had brought to the kennel. She explained, somewhat incoherently, how Angus was able to escape. To this day, I have no idea how he got away; my only conclusion is that it was simple incompetence and irresponsibility. When I dropped Angus at the kennel, I asked the young woman to pay careful attention to Angus as he did come with some issues as a puppy mill survivor. The owner of the kennel did not offer any assistance--other than telling me that she had someone (I think she said a police officer) bringing over a and quot;have-a-heartand quot; trap. When I saw the trap I knew (1) it was too small for a dog who was frightened of cages and (2) would never attract him. I called all the local police departments for assistance; I called the Northern New England Westie Rescue, Inc. and they provided assistance in searching for him; they also helped me notify the Granite State Dog Recovery (who were WONDERFUL). With the assistance of these fine people from NNEWR and GSDR, and the sharp eyes of Dave K., we found ANGUS after two days gone...I spoke with the owner of the kennel when I picked up Angus (Dave K had returned him there when he failed to contact us by phone (we were hiking New Canada Rd, Wilmot/Danbury line where he had been seen and phones do not work well there). She did not offer any more information about how Angus had gotten away from the kennel. My husband and I, the folks from NNEWR, from GSDR and just good hearted people in the area searched for two days through deep woods, worried about coyote and fisher cats and other dangers. I know the owner of the kennel had returned from vacation and searched for a mile of New Canada Rd on Friday morning. I know mistakes happen; I know there are sometimes unforeseen issues; however, I can only conclude that this incident occurred because of negligence because I have NO OTHER INFORMATION. The owner has never called me for any reason, even to check on Angus, who, after a visit to the vet to check for effects of his two days in the woods of New Hampshire, is just fine. He will never return to this kennel. "This is a very professional and high quality company. They completed the countertops in two days. The epoxy had a flaw from the manufacturer and they come back immediately and re surfaced it. The counters look like glass. The price was reasonable. We are very happy with the result. The only negative is they could have done a better job cleaning up."

As someone deeply committed to sustainability and energy efficiency, I couldn't be happier with the outstanding results. From the outset, Net Zero Design demonstrated a profound understanding of green building practices. The integration of WiFi-enabled Smart Lighting, Heat Pumps, Heat Pump Water Heaters, and a Standby Generator showcases their commitment to cutting-edge technology that not only enhances comfort but also minimizes environmental impact. The team's expertise in energy-efficient design is truly commendable. The WiFi-enabled Smart Lighting system not only adds a modern touch but also contributes to energy savings. The Heat Pumps and Heat Pump Water Heaters provide efficient heating and cooling, ensuring optimal comfort while significantly reducing energy consumption. The inclusion of a Standby Generator reflects their foresight and dedication to ensuring uninterrupted power supply, especially in Vermont's challenging weather conditions. This thoughtful addition adds an extra layer of reliability and peace of mind. Throughout the project, communication was excellent. The team kept me informed about the progress, and their attention to detail was evident at every stage. Despite the complexity of integrating advanced technologies, the project was completed efficiently and surpassed all expectations. Net Zero Design's ability to deliver a stunning, energy-efficient addition that seamlessly blends with the existing structure is truly remarkable. When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
