Starting in the late 1980’s as small partnership building and renovating homes in the Pioneer Valley, Thayer Street Associates, Inc. has expanded to include not only residential work but commercial projects for retail businesses, offices, educational facilities, restaurants, medical and dental practices, hospitals, hotels, municipal offices, churches, and historical restoration work. TSA has not only grown its general contracting and project management business, but from modest beginnings, has developed a cabinet and millwork shop capable of meeting the requirements of clients and architects to produce casework in quantity and of the highest quality. Throughout our expansion, we at TSA have strived to maintain a commitment to conduct business with our clients —both residential and commercial— in an open, honest, and personal way. We believe that in all construction projects best results are achieved collaboratively. With this as a goal, we have built a reputation based upon cooperation and positivity which is ultimately beneficial to all involved. To this end, we have developed a network of good relations with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and materials providers. We assure excellent communication, efficiency, high quality finish products, and timely completion of the work. Please contact us for your next project. Upon request we will provide ample references in the many project types mentioned here whether it is a home, addition, kitchen or bathroom, office remodel, retail store build-out, and more.

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

As with any project, weighing the pros and cons of upholstery can help determine if that is the right choice for you. The ultimate question is whether it’s worth reupholstering instead of buying new furniture. Here are a few of the benefits and disadvantages of reupholstering a piece of furniture.

Pros:

  • Preserving a family heirloom

  • Maintaining high-quality furniture in good condition

  • Reinventing an old piece of furniture

  • Keeping a piece of furniture from going to a landfill

Cons:

  • Spending (possibly) more than to buy a new piece of furniture

  • Finding out the frame is beyond repair

  • Waiting for the reupholstery work to be done

Paper moving pads, also called furniture wrapping paper or paper moving blankets, are sheets of recycled paper used to protect various items during moving. Similar to traditional moving blankets, paper pads are also reusable, making them a sustainable and cost-effective option for protecting your belongings during the moving process. Although they’re recycled, they still provide excellent protection against dust, dirt, and scratches.

On average, the cost to reupholster furniture is about $720 per piece. However the price range to upholster a piece of furniture varies widely from about $380 to $1,150 or more, depending on the material type and availability, repairs needed, and the complexity of the project. Fabric costs typically range from $50 to $70 per yard while the cost of labor runs from $40 to $100 per hour.

Part of the beauty of academia decor is that most textures and materials will feel right at home, provided they’re dark. Some common textures include natural wood, dark metals like iron, velvet, and leather. Incorporating these into your dark academia decor will make them look right at home. Glass is another option in some cases, so fill in gaps in your decor with small glass jars, or really lean on the gothic roots of dark academia with stained glass.

Yes, many custom builders offer finishing and upholstery options tailored to your style.
