Mice! The contents of our entire home were held by Greene moving and storage. When returned to us 15 months later the result was nothing short of disgusting. Mouse droppings were found everywhere. Mouse “nests” were found in multiple locations. Acorns and other scraps found in boxes, under seat cushions, in corners of our sofas. Mouse pee staining our children’s books. Mouse droppings in our daughters’ birthday hats. The list goes on. Beyond that multiple items had water damage as if they were sitting in water for a year. Coffee tables and dining tables destroyed. The smell of mound and mildew on everything. It’s gross. I’m addition to that damage, almost every piece of furniture was damaged with dings, scrapes, or chunks missing. We requested that Patrick Greene pay for the damages but he offered a fraction of the cost of the damages. Stay away from Greene moving and storage if you care about your belongings.

In an industry that sees its share of terrible experiences, I would rate our moving experience with Greene Moving & Storage as excellent.

It went great! The only thing that bothered me was that some large items were carried in a hurried manner that didn't look safe. For example I have a moderately heavy coffee table that I've always moved with two people but a single mover picked it up and carried it in front of him / on his chest. It made it in safely, but this felt risky and on top of that there were things inside the coffee table that I had left there because I didn't think the table would get flipped around that could have been damaged from this manouver. Like I said, nothing was damaged, and they certain worked hard and were very efficient, so maybe it was safer than it looked, it just made me nervous.

The movers (gorillas) broke, scratched, & dented just about everything. The packers were cool (they packed the kitchen). I contacted the company and. They refunded $350, but as I unpack, I'm finding damaged items. I'm writing this after noticing the scratches on my late mother's mahogany dresser. I read a review saying they were great, but I'm guessing the great movers have moved on. One of the movers, Troy, rudely told me "we're movers, not packers." This was as I was packing up my CDs, which I was told would be shrink wrapped and could stay in the cabinet. My next move will NOT be with this company. Ellen (I think that's her name) was very sympathetic and asked how much monetary damage was done, and we settled on $350. In retrospect, it should have been 4x that amount. I moved from Marlborough to Newington...cost...$2200. Outrageous

Seems to me that a disassembled sofa bed that was moved in without incident by two professional undertakers (up the same fire escape) could be moved out the same way by professional movers.  The rip/snag that I found after the fact was large, L-shaped, and marked by some white dusty substance encountered along the way exactly as made in transit.  Sofa bed in question, contrary to their description in trying to discourage Salvation Army's acceptance, was made by "Work Bench", therefore practically immortal though older.  Two/three Salvation Army employees had said they would accept.  Greene said they would only go back for it at full hourly rate ($155).  Then there was the glass scented oil container they broke in the building front hall, leaving glass and oil everywhere for me to clean up later.  I do not expect any compensation, since dishonest or not I signed but lost my tax deduction and a useful item was destroyed.  I have a picture on cell but not the technical skills to transmit.  Greene Moving and Storage in Manchester, CT has phone number 1-800-343-5502.

Response from Greene Moving & Storage
"[member name removed], I am sorry your experience with Greene Moving was not up to standards. I spoke with the moving crew and they explained that since the sofa was just going to the curb they did not want to waste time prepping it to just be placed out for bulk pick up, hence the rip and snag since it wasn't shrunk wrapped. Please accept my apology that you were not happy with your experience. Sincerely, Patrick Greene"

Very responsive when I first contacted company.  Worked with me to find appropriate dates.  Everything went well except the actual move.  Two boxes had broken items.  One of the boxes had expensive crystal and more than 1/2 of the items were broken.  The box was obviously dropped.  It was labeled fragile and all the items were well wrapped.  The other box had few items in it and may not have been adequately padded given this so I am partially responsible, but it was also labeled fragile.  In addition a box with some valuable items can not be located among those moved.  I am not blaming anyone, but I am very concerned that it is missing.  No one else has had access to the boxes.  As a result I can't recommend these movers.  If you use them, move your own fragile items.  I learned my lesson the hard way.

It was a very good experience.  The crew (Troy, Kevin, Jerry) were a great team.  They arrived on time and worked hard and steady until the job was finished at our new home.  At each house they asked for a tour to get a feel for the items and layout of each house.  After the tour they went to work and loaded all items in a very well thought out scheme.  Once a large number of items were loaded they started organizing the truck.  Items were wrapped and packed such that there was no movement during transport.  Patrick had initially quoted $1,400 based upon a list we provided.  The price was based upon an hourly rate for a 3 man crew and no extra fees like a lot of other movers were quoting.  Because the crew worked so hard and steady (did not even stop for lunch) we only required 6 hours instead of 8 hours, thus a final bill of $1,100.  Another plus, Patrick answered the phone every time I called around 8 am, and he returned all e-mails within one day.  I would recommend Patrick and his crew to anyone considering a local move like we had.

It went really well.  We were pleased with the crew of 6 men. They were all professional, hard working and courteous.
The job took a little longer than estimated, and therefore the cost a little more due to the labor time. It was a big job (4 bed. 3 bath house to load up) and we were so pleased they were able to complete it in one day.
They took care with our belongings. When unloading they asked how to place the rugs and furniture. Moved a few things for me and were very pleasant about it.

They were absolutely incredible.  Within the first 30 minutes, one of the three men assigned to the job had to leave for a family emergency.  In spite of only then having two men to do the work of three men, the two remaining men (Shawn and John) finished the job within the estimated time frame.  They were courteous, extremely professional and did it all without a complaint.  They did not damage anything in the move - not the furniture nor any of the walls or anything along the way.
As far as I am concerned, they went above and beyond under the circumstances to complete the job in time, and I would absolutely hire Greene Moving again and specifically request Shawn and John.

Greene responded quickly to my request for an estimate, arrived promptly on the appointed day, and delivered the safe efficiently without damage. The three-man crew was polite and professional throughout all the heavy lifting.
I would definitely use Greene again and would recommend them to a friend or family member without reservation.

Time included travel from and to the moving company in Manchester. (Not sure if this Industry norm or this company policy)
If you live far away from Manchester, hire somebody close to your house as you might end up paying good amount of $ for travel.

I was overall impressed by the services performed.  The crew really appeared eager to provide good customer service and explained what they were doing throughout the move.  They all worked hard and didn't even seem to take a break during the move.  I didn't really have alot of furniture left to move but they handled everything I did have with care.  I always love to comment when I think I get good customer service and that is why I am writing this review.  This company showed me that they are professionals at what they do and I thought they took pride in every aspect of their job.  I didn't have a lot of money to spend on the move so we tried to do as much as we could on our own.  It still cost some money but I don't think it was over priced at all compared to some other companies that I checked.  I requested a service and I also understand you must pay for service and I just hoped that it would be good, and it definitley was good.  Thank you Greene Moving and Storage for your assistance and please keep up the good work!

Everyone we encountered (Patrick Green, Jason, and Justin) were professional, courteous, and careful.
We received three quotes for our residential move, Greene being the lowest.  They packed up the house, took pieces apart when necessary, placed everything in the correct rooms as instructed, and put pieces back together.

The movers came with their company truck on time.  Did a quick walk-thru and started moving as I had packed everything myself already.  The workers were diligent and helpful.  They wrap the furniture that needed to be wrapped securely and nicely.  Took short breaks and didn't charge me for 1/2 lunch break.  Everything was great except one of the movers made a pass on me and kept teasing my friends who were there to stay with me...very inappropriate.
