I called them a month ago to get pricing on moving. They told me they only needed a 2 day notice for moving and that they deliver everyday. I called and gave them a 5 day notice, and they gave me a price and said they would be out early on Sunday. He told me that there was another job and that they couldn't come out till the afternoon between 2pm-4pm. I have everything packed and I am waiting and waiting. I called them at 5:30pm and they said they had another big job and it would be longer. Owner told me he would call his movers that day and they never called me back. I just wanted to warn anyone else that might use this company.

They are terrible. They never did any service to me. I purchased that service purchase through your website and I called them and I scheduled the day for them to move me and they did not arrive at the set date and time and I try to call them and the person I ended up talking to was in a warehouse for the storage facility. Apparently there had been a fire at their facility that they run their business in some way knocked out the tower and I understand that sort of thing had happened and I think they had a truck break down as well and that is why they didn't show up and I couldn't reach anyone because there had been some sort of electrical fire. They never called me back. I had left my number with the person that I spoke with the warehouse and he was supposed to make sure that is someone got back to me that we could schedule another day. They never showed up nothing and then I ended up calling and I got through another different day and I spoke to someone and we set up a new date and again they never showed up. I called and finally spoke to someone we don't actually have you marked down for today. I said what are going to do now because this is two days where I have trying to move and he was not showing up and in what way you are going to compensate me for this and they said pretty much nothing and they didn't do anything about it and that is when I said that I would just trying to get a refund, which I did. I called you guys and you are very understanding and gave me back a refund for the service and that is pretty much end of the story. I would not use them again.

I have moved several times, both locally and from one state to another, and used several different movers.  This move was the only bad experience of the bunch.
When the crew arrived, the first thing out of the crew leader's mouth was that I could pay a gratuity before or after the move, either in cash or by check.  I was dumbfounded.  No other mover I dealt with even hinted at such a thing.  Toward the end of the move I ended up paying an additional amount, after it became apparent that things might not be completed otherwise.  The job was to be done on a fixed price basis, and the crew leader said it was taking longer than expected, but it was not my fault that the company might have miscalculated something.
During the move itself, the movers damaged a vintage piece of bedroom furniture, gashing or scratching  it in several places.  When I pointed it out to the crew leader, he just shrugged and said that sort of thing happens.  After the move, we discovered that the crew put lots of boxes in the wrong rooms, even though the boxes were clearly marked, and that several items were poorly packed and damaged to varying degrees in transit.  We did not learn about some of this until some months later, so the only thing we put in a claim for was the damage to the bedroom furniture.
I dealt with the company's director of operations, Bill,  before and after the move, and he is the only person to whom I would give high marks.  He was a pleasure to deal with and tried to make things right.  He sent out his regular furniture repair person promptly, but we did not like the guy and he wanted to refinish the entire piece, which was not necessary.  We found our own repair person, and Bill agreed that we could use him, and paid his bill promptly.
Despite Bill's efforts, I would not use this company again under any conceivable set of circumstances.

See above comments. Also, may I say, that in my situation that Lupica were not just a moving company.
Do's: Tell them everything about your moving situation. They will not try and take advantage of you. Instead they will work as a true consultative moving service and provide the best and most cost-effective solution to your needs
Do's: Don't hesitate to ask questions. They will answer them. That relieved a lot of stress for me. For example scheduling with all people involved, etc... By asking questions up front it actually lessened the amount of overall calling back and forth as the project went along.
Don't: Don't waste your time second guessing their project planning.  They actually do plan the project before they do the move. If there is something they don't feel comfortable about they will tell you. There were several collectibles that they felt would definitely need special packing. At the same time - they didn't consider everything needing to be treated that same way.
Don't Waste time doing a lot of competitive bidding. I understand one should get other bids but make sure you are truly getting apples to apples services.
Don't immediately presume you need to use their storage services. I think everyone's situation is unique as is storage. But, again, Explain whole situation to them including your storage requirements. In trusting them I did as well and they felt in my case using my friend as a storage location was the best way to go. Through all this I have learned that estimating what one's storage needs are, and will be, is one of the worst things a person can estimate. I think they understand that and understand that we can all be quite vulnerable. They seemed to understand what would be best for my needs. FYI, I learned through all this that they have a lot of different types of storage - I didn't even know that there are all these different types of storage available!

They called me on July 7th as the movers were loading the truck to come to my new house.  They let me know that there was water damage to several of my belongings, with the main concern being our mattress.  They said they would call me back after they looked into it.  They finally called me back after speaking with their insurance company and told me that they were not going to cover it and that I needed to put it on my home owners insurance.

The move was okay.  As I moved in the spring, I didn't notice until the following fall that one of my garment boxes hadn't been delivered.  IT contained several winter coats, snow pants, sweaters, etc..  When I called them to advise of the missing goods, they asked me to submit a list of the items missing.  Upon receipt, they told me that I would need to make the claim on my homeowners insurance.  I told them that I had purchased 'full replacement value' insurance with them as indicated on our contract.  They still would not assist.  I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and PUCO but Lupica would still not budge.  This is insurance fraud for all intents and purposes.  They should be ashamed of themselves...

This was the worst possible nightmare of an experience.  After I signed up for the Angie's List "Big Deal" and paid the $199 price for the move I contacted Lupica Movers directly to set a date for the move.  Lupica committed to do the move on the afternoon of May 2, 2012.  Lupica said I could call after 12:00 Noon on the day of the move to confirm the estimated arrival time of their truck and crew.
Based on Lupica's commitment I terminated my apartment lease and signed a lease for the new apartment.  Following Lupica's recommendation I called them at Noon on the scheduled day.  At that time Lupica told me they were cancelling the "Big Deal" and they would not do the move.  There was no crew and truck coming.  I was beyond shocked, completely packed and waiting.
When I asked how they could cancel their commitment to me to move me THAT DAY their answer was that they had no written contract with me, they were cancelling the Angie's List deal and I could take it up with Angie's List.  They refused to discuss it any further, wished me a nice day and hung up.
They were totally unprofessional and could not have cared less about the predicament they put me in.  Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Initially, we scheduled the move for Saturday, 4/28/2012. They asked if I would change my scheduled appointment to Friday, 4/27/2012, because they had overbooked themselves for Saturday; and I agreed. On Friday, I called at around 1:00 PM to inquire about when they would be coming to start the move. They responded that there was no guarantee of time with their services. When I called at approximately 4:00 PM, they told me that the people scheduled to do my job were still working in Stowe, which is 40 minutes away. Finally, I called again at about 7:00 PM because they had mentioned to me that they had another crew starting at 7. I initially got an answering machine, and when I finally got to a real person it took about an hour to hear back from a supervisor. When I did speak to the 'supervisor' about the troubles they had caused by not showing up, he informed me that his 7:00 crew was only for commercial jobs and he would have to get back to me about my move.

As of now, I am still waiting this morning (Saturday) to hear back from anyone. I still have no idea what is going on.

On Friday, I had moved everything outside to try and expedite the process. As they never showed, I had to have all of my helpers move it back in again. This whole fiasco not only caused problems with my project, but with tenants, my carpet installers and all of the other people involved in my moving project.

In essence I feel like they have taken my money and not provided the service. I cannot find a mover that quick on a Saturday, and this has caused so much trouble for me!

When we called to make the appointment we were told that they were no longer honoring the deal.  They did not offer a refund or any sort of compensation.  I phoned Angie's List to inquire about the situation, they refunded my money and will investigate.

I purchased the deal on April 4 and called in to set up an appointment. I let them know I had a Big Deal and was planning on using it for a move. I was just called today by the company informing me that they did not authorize any Big Deals and would do the move at full price.

Response from The Original Lupica Moving & Storage, Inc

"It is unfortunate that when we cannot meet the satisfaction level of each customer we serve. Our past record indicates that we take our customers and the level of service with great pride and integrity. In this case the customer did sustain minor damage to a few items. We willingly offered to pay her claim within the limits of the Valuation Protection Coverage as selected by the customer at the beginning of her move. We are required to offer FREE coverage at a basic minimal level as require by the Public Utilites Commission Ohio, additional levels of ceverage are available at small additional charges depending on coverage limits. This customer acknowledged the FREE coverage by palcing her initials in the apppropriate space as provide in the coverage section of the contract. The limits of coverage state that reimbursement will be paid at $0.60 per pound per article. The claim was paid in the amount of around $40.00+. We this payment we met our full and legal obligation and were 100% in compliance with the Ohio Law. However, after careful consideration of the customers claim we decided, after the fact, that we would reimburse the customer an additional $88.00 to meet the limits of coverage under the "Replacement Valuation Protection" limits which would pay $128.00. The customer recived her additional payment and cashed the check. Even after our re-consideration and payment this customer chose not to update her report to your organization, it appears that she is still not satisfied or she desires to maintain our rating with an overall grade of "F". This is quite disheartening when we went above and beyond our obligation and gave the customer "The Benefit of The Doubt" We certainly will learn from this customers action that it is true "Nice Guys Finish Last!""

Lupica Movers stored our furniture and other belongings in their temperature-controlled indoor facilities from February 14, 2011 until November 18, 2011.   When we finished our remodeling and requested that Lupica deliver our belongings from storage, they responded promptly and we arranged a mutually agreeable date for delivery.

Lupica Movers arrived at the appointed time with two men who carefully and efficiently placed our furniture in our home exactly as we wanted it.  They were courteous, friendly, respectful, well-organized, and had all of their documentation in hand and well organized.  Brad, the lead mover, who has been with Lupica for more than 17 years I am told, is an experienced professional mover.  His coworker was excellent, as well -- a hard worker.  The move was completed in a very timely manner for an exceptionally reasonable price.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Lupica Movers.  Everyone at Lupica Movers makes the customers feel as if they are the most important people in the world.  An ordinarily very stressful exercise was made much less stressful by the way that we and our belongings were treated -- at a great price. We are very pleased with our second experience with Lupica Movers this year.

I can't say enough nice things about how great my experience was with the move crew (Tommy, Belvin and Ron).  They were supposed to start at 8am but couldn't make it on time due to another commitment they had.  That wasn't a big deal because they called to let me know when they would arrive and didn't keep me wondering.  When they arrived they got to work right away and were extremely hard and fast workers throuhgout the entire move - no wasted time at all.  We had some difficult pieces to move that they happily took care of.  Our basement staircase is very narrow with a tight 90 degree turn, but they were still able to take our large washer and dryer down there, as well as our 50" projection tv that I thought would never make it.  They finished the job well under their time estimate, and that included swapping out the washer and dryer between the two houses.  I was very impressed with the amount of work these guys handled in such a short amount of time.  They were quick but took great care of our stuff, the furniture and glass items were carefully packed and we didn't have a single item get damaged.  They took the time at the end to make sure everything was placed where I wanted it before they left.  Aside from them doing a great a job, they were extremely friendly to work with and took a lot of the stress out of the moving process.  I have zero complaints about them, they were a great group of guys.  I would definitely recommend these guys to anybody.

As far as the company goes, they were responsive and friendly over the phone in getting them scheduled and their pricing was great.  We moved on a Saturday, but they have the same pricing structure on weekends as they do on weekdays.  Unlinke most other moving companies, they don't start charging until they arrive and the transportation fee is very small (around $20).  Great experience all around!

It was the worst experience I ever had with any company.  Also, I've hired movers before and have never seen such unprofessionalism and deception.  First the owner/operator gave me an estimate over the phone of $600 after I described my furniture.  He said not to worry, he'd give me an estimate in writing the morning of the move and that he's never off by plus or minus $20.00   I thought that sounded good so hired them.  The morning of the move, after he didn't appear for over an hour after the scheduled time, I called and he gruffly said their truck broke down and they had to get another truck.   We already had our entire house packed and ready to go.  I didn't think we could hire another mover on the spot so I felt like we were stuck.  But it got worse.   When they did show up they had this old rickety truck.  The driver couldn't get it in the drive without shearing off the neighbor's tree branches. When he got out of the truck the first thing he said, literally, was, "I don't know what I'm doing."   The movers broke legs off of furniture and argued all day increasing the time it took to get the job done. They banged up my washer and dryer too.  After 13 hours of moving (which should not have taken that long ), the guys handed me a bill for $1300 -- $700 more than they estimated.  When I refused to pay that much, they called the owner/co. rep. who argued that  they deserved it because it took them 13 hours.  I explained it was their own lack of knowing how to move things professionally and quickly and it should not cost me. In addition, I reminded him that he said he his estimate was never off by plus or minus $20.00.  He  threatened to call the police if I didn't pay.  I told him that his tactic is a bait and switch tactic, that I'm an attorney, (which I am), that you can't call the police over a contract dispute and not to threaten me.  At this point it was 11 p.m.and I just wanted to end the aggravation with them and get the movers off my property, without having to call the police myself for their refusal to leave so I negotiated  $1,000 as payment in full.  He agreed, but no one should have to go through such unprofessionalism and aggravation.

Overall, the 3-man crew did a nice job. They called the day before to let us know about a minor schedule change, and they arrived at the agreed-upon time on the day of our move. They protected the furniture well and shrink-wrapped the mattresses.  In retrospect, it would have been nice to shrink wrap the cloth furniture, too, but their moving pads did an OK job--no damage, just a little dusty.  The crew did a tremendous amount of lifting with our very heavy furniture, and there was no breakage or damage to our items or our new home. We paid by the hour, and the crew worked at a timely pace.  My only criticism was that the crew smoked, so the smell was present in our home until we could open up the windows and air it out.  They did take breaks, but considering the amount of lifting they were doing, the frequency and length of breaks were completely reasonable. The men were pleasant, respectful, and professional.  We would definitely use this company again for a short move.
