Endless pool may refer to one of two things. For some, it’s a term used interchangeably with infinity pool. Because infinity pools don’t have a visible edge, they look endless. When designing your dream pool, it's important to leave enough room for safe walkways, patios, and extras such as outdoor kitchens and fire pits. Your local building codes may specify the minimum space between your pool and your house, utility lines, and property line. In most cases, the area of the patio around the pool should be equal to or greater than the surface area of the pool.

You can have an automatic pool cover with a saltwater pool, but it’s important to know that the small levels of salt in your pool can eventually corrode the metal parts of the pool cover. This means you’ll have to keep your unit clean, especially the reels, pulleys, and tracks. As with any other pool cover, test your chlorine levels weekly and keep them on the lower end of the threshold.

With a regular pool, the water is contained by visible walls that are higher than the water level. An infinity pool has one or more walls that are right at the waterline so they're not truly visible. For an invisible look, the lower wall is often made of glass or clear acrylic. The water laps over the lower edge and into a catch basin below where it gets pumped back into the pool.
