"I live in Alaska and was trying to sell my house in VT which is a big task when you do everything by email and over the phone. A home inspection revealed that all three heaters in the house needed replacement and the current ones were red tagged and shut off. So with no heat and it being October with a pending sale I needed heaters installed ASAP. Myself and my relator called and emailed people to no avail. I contacted a House Needs in Waitsfield VT to see if they installed the items they sold and they didn't but they recommended Dennis Smith at Preferred oil and propane. I sent them an email and on the next business day I got a call told them my problem and they said they would take a look by the end of the week. I gave them the combo to my house and a few hours later I got a call back and he had already been there and explained to me what the job would entail and what types of stoves he could install with the space available. He new the price and labor costs on 2 and got back to me a couple hours later with the information on the 3rd. We agreed on a price I made a deposit and he ordered the stoves. He started the job 3 days early and finished before the original start date. He sent me photos of the work done and advised that he would meet with the new home owners to explain how to operate the units. I was so thankful to have this work done in a timely and reasonably price fashion. I would highly recommend Preferred oil and propane for any heating needs. the customer service was amazing. Every time I sent an email it was promptly answered."

"Vista installed new vinyl siding on our house and I couldn't be happier with the result. Our house looks brand new and I love the color. The communication was excellent! Every step of the project was very organized and I loved how Keith and Brian checked in every few days. The work crew was very repectful of our propery and the quality quality of work is amazing. Overall it was a refreshing, seamless experience. I would highly recommend them."

"Mike and his team did a solid job for us.  The previous owners had punted on installing
the correct solution and lied about water entering the home.  When we found ¼ inch of water in our back
room basement we called GMBS out and they were there within hours to do an
estimate.
This was one of the rainiest summers in recent memory and
GMBS had a ton of business so we had to wait, but it was worth the wait.  They finished the job in under 3 days and the
work looks great.
They installed a brand new sump pump, the old one the previous owners had
installed was done poorly, was inefficient to the task and sounded like a jet
engine.   They installed a sub floor
perimeter drainage system and vapor sealed our walls.

They were quick, professional, courteous and were easy to
work with.  We paid up front and part of
the job was over estimated and they got a refund to us when we needed it.

I have more work I need done in the future and I plan on
using Mike and his team.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

One common reason a sump pump stops working is improper sizing. Different locations need different sizes and power ratings of sump pumps depending on the typical amount of water the pump needs to manage. If your sump pump is too small for the quantity of water, it can overwork and either burn out or reduce the life of the unit. If the pump is too big, it can overwork and burn out early.

Yes, it’s possible to install a sewage ejector pump outside rather than in a basement. However, there may be some extra steps involved, including running pipes from the inside to the outside of your home and digging (and re-filling) a hole for the basin. If you aren’t comfortable with this type of work, contact a plumbing pro to handle it for you.

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

If you have a self-cleaning washing machine but you’re still seeing lint, your water pump filter might be clogged. To clean it, you should unscrew the drain hose, then remove the water pump filter. From there, you can inspect it and clean it with warm water before replacing it. Check to be sure your washing machine is functioning by running a short cycle.
