I remember when a nice lady in Miami, FL asked me if I wanted to earn some extra money painting the exterior of her house in Coral Gables, FL. I then painted inside and other properties she had in the neighborhood and Miami Dade. I did this without any painting experience. I moved to Virginia in 2001 to work with Construction Co. in Harrisonburg, VA and in 2008 I worked with great foreign painters, got more experience, and started my business. Since then I work anywhere around a radius of 75+ miles in Staunton VA. I specialize in Interior and Exterior Paint, Staining Wood, Pressure Washing, Window Grazing, Wallpaper Removal, Removing Stains, Removing Old Paint, Cabinet Resurfacing, Furniture Repainting, Plaster or Drywall Repair, etc. I worked on historic houses, new houses, and commercial buildings. It can depend on the removal method. Make sure to be patient and consider using a steamer, hair dryer, or adhesive remover to carefully take down adhesive-backed wallpaper.

Most experts would not recommend hanging wallpaper over existing wallpaper more than twice. Even if the walls are in good condition and primed well, that third layer of wallpaper could cause problems with adhesion. Unless you like bubbling paint and peeling wallpaper as an interior design choice, it’s better to remove at least one existing layer before adding any more to a wall.

If you’re installing new wallpaper and have leftover glue, you can remove unused wallpaper paste from the bucket or pan it’s in by letting it dry. If it’s an oil-based paste, seal it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. Otherwise, toss the leftover wallpaper paste in the trash. Although it’s water-soluble, don’t rinse unused wallpaper paste down the sink because it could dry in the pipes and cause a blockage.
