"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

"The customer service was amazing from the girl, Kelly who answered the phone and scheduled them to come out all the way to the maintenance person there. I appreciated their work and they fixed it fast.

"Carlos and team did a GREAT job. Our stairs were pulling away from the wall in our older home and creating a hazard. He was very prompt in replying to our request. He came and spent time analyzing the problem to determine the best solution. He didn't just start tearing things apart. He was very thorough and put high priority on a safe redesign. He moved several steps over, replaced 2 oak steps, put additional supports under the stairs, and sanded and stained the entire staircase. After seeing the quality of his work, we had him repair 2 ceilings which had extensive cracking. His prices were fair, and we were very satisfied with his work. We would definitely hire Riddell Home Improvements again. Thank you for your hard work!!"

Window Screen Repair FAQs, answered by experts

Some hardware or specialty window stores in your area may repair damaged screens, but it’s less time-consuming, more convenient, and potentially more affordable to hire a screen repair technician to come to your home to do the work on-site. The screen technician will have the tools and experience to get the work done the same day, and they can inspect other screens while there to help avoid repeat repair costs in the future.

The screen on many screen doors is held in place by screen spline. Screen spline is typically a thin vinyl tubing that fits into the groove of the door’s frame and holds the screen in place. To install the spline on a screen door, you’ll need a spline roller—a tool that presses the spline and screen into the door’s narrow groove. Note that old spline can crack and break, so replacing your screens is a good time to replace the spline, too.

There are different types of screen materials available when purchasing a screen door, but the two main options are fiberglass and aluminum. Fiberglass is lightweight and affordable, but can stretch out, so it needs to be replaced more often. Aluminum has a higher upfront cost, but is more sturdy. Aluminum can be more difficult to install, even if you know how to replace screen door mesh.

Pet-resistant, vinyl-coated polyester is one of the strongest window screen materials available, with some manufacturers touting a 7x increase in strength compared to standard fiberglass screens. Stainless steel security screens are also extremely strong, but they’re not suitable for coastal areas due to the risk of corrosion from salty sea air. If sea air isn’t a concern, stainless steel is extremely tough.

Solar screens use a thick mesh of polyester to block out the UV waves and solar heat. While they are more expensive at about $7.50 per square foot, they can protect your porch or hardwood floors from sun damage and keep the room or porch on the other side of the patio cool.
