"The customer service was amazing from the girl, Kelly who answered the phone and scheduled them to come out all the way to the maintenance person there. I appreciated their work and they fixed it fast.

"The project went really well. We are very pleased with our fence. It matches with our current deck railing and the oggie play pen we have already. They helped me decide where to locate for my gate. My back yard has a hill and very uneven. They customized the entire fence. I wanted my gate to be flushed to grass as much as possible so my dog would not get out. The sales owner and the guys who did my fence were very professional. The other owner also stopped by and introduced himself. The guys did not leave any trash or materials behind. I would use them again."

"Excellent work! At least 1/3 of my roof on the north side had a great deal of moss on it. On much of the rest of the roof there were small amounts of moss along the bottom edge of shingles, and there were patches in scattered places on the main part of the shingles. After Hector and his son cleaned the roof, it looked brand new. They removed plants and furniture from our deck before the job and replaced them after the job. They even did a light washing of the vinyl siding of the house, which was outside the agreed-upon scope of work, but they did not charge me for it. As a former member of a site safety office in a then-Fortune 50 company, I was particularly impressed with the excellent precautions they took to insure their safety on the roof during the job. Hector’s 27+ years of experience was evident in every aspect of the job. I plan to bring him back in a year for annual maintenance. I definitely recommend No More Dirty Roofs to any home owner needing roof cleaning."

"

Our experience with SJ&Sons was great.  We really appreciated the value we received for the "$69 for 2-hours of labor" deal that we purchased.  I plan to contact this company and use them again in the near future for some drywall repairs.  Also, I know they build decks, and, given how well this project went, we'd be happy to talk with them about a large-scale project like that.  Thank you for all your hard work with repairing our doors!

"We provided the wood ~ had Lowe's deliver to job site.  George provided the service and it LOOKS wonderful. Very well done and it needed to have supports that we didn't know it needed, but he realized it and took care of it.  We are very pleased with George's quality of workmanship.  He does what he says and is on time.
He is now pricing another job we need done! It's great to work with someone who can schedule and complete a job that looks great."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

Covering your deck with a breathable tarp can protect it from snow, ice, and cold winter temperatures. This is a good winterizing solution if you don’t plan to use your deck at all during the colder months. However, it might be best to skip the tarp if you’ll still be walking on your deck or using it in a limited capacity.

In many areas, a floating deck that isn’t connected to your home and stays under 200 square feet and below 30 inches in height may not need a permit. These freestanding structures are often considered low-risk, which can simplify the building process. However, building codes vary greatly based on location. Before investing in any home improvement project, check with your local permitting office for deck-building guidelines.

Many people say the best composite decking is Trex, TimberTech, or Fiberon. These brands have formulated composite deck boards to withstand the elements and hold up over time. Each offers a range of product lines varying in durability, price, and appearance. Compare their different composite decking offers for cost, looks, and features before deciding on a product.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.
