"We were generally pleased with the work that was done with the attic fan installation. The job was big and messy. Because of my plaster ceiling the edges around the fan need to be repaired. I was not told about this and because of my lack of knowledge I was not aware that I would be left to repair the ceiling. Other than that they did a great job. I am looking to bring them back to install ceiling fans in the bedrooms."

"Marshall Painter responded immediately to my inquiry about the roofing job.  He made the 30 mile trip to my home the next day to inspect the house and assess what the job would entail.  He asked lots of questions and did a thorough job estimating the work.  Marshall promptly provided me with a written estimate, and arranged to meet me several days later at a shingle store so I could choose the type of shingles we would order.  (We were working under some time pressure since we had detected a leak in the roof that was beginning to do damage to the interior of the house.)  Marshall arranged for his crew to arrive right away after the shingles were delivered and spent several days installing the new roof.  We had a professional craftsman observing the work they were doing, and he was impressed with the quality of the workmanship.  They did an excellent job cleaning up the tons of debris resulting from demolition of the old roof, and left the house looking like nothing had ever happened on the grounds.  I would definitely use Marshall's services again.

"I contacted Ferguson Home Improvements to come out and help me get my house ready for sale.  The owner was fabulous and had a very attention to detail approach to fixing the walls and nail pops in the ceilings.  They left the house in pristine condition and everything looked brand new, it made me think twice about wanting to sell the house now that it is in such perfect condition.  He also hung some ceiling fans to replace the old ones.  When I move into my new home I will have Ferguson Home Improvements back to help me with my new projects what ever they are.  They are by far the best home improvement company I have ever dealt with.

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

On average, a bathroom fan lasts between five and ten years. The fan's lifespan depends on its quality, installation, and frequency of use. You can extend its life with regular cleaning and by promptly addressing any issues. Common signs that you need a new fan include mold growth, a burning smell, unusually loud noises during operation, or lingering odors in the bathroom. If your fan is no longer working as well as it once did, consider replacing it. The cost to install a new bathroom fan is typically between $240 and $550.

Yes, you can lubricate a ceiling fan without taking it apart. Ensure the fan is off and clean any dust around the motor area before lubricating. Apply several drops of machine oil to the top of the motor housing where the shaft enters or via the oil ports if available. Regular lubrication helps maintain smooth operation and reduces noise. If your fan lacks an accessible oil port, it may require disassembly or professional maintenance.

Your bathroom exhaust fan shouldn't be loud. However, bath fans come in a wide variety of models, price points, and loudness characteristics, and yours may be louder or quieter than others you notice. Economy models tend to be the noisiest, with levels of 4.0 sones or more, which is about the sound of an electric shaver, while some high-end models can be barely audible.

It depends on your budget and cooling needs. Whole-house fans keep your home breezy by pulling in cool air and pushing out hot air. In places with milder climates, they can replace air conditioning. On the other hand, Attic fans focus on keeping your attic cool—not your entire house. Often, whole-house fans cost more than attic fans, with installation ranging from $600 to $3,600.
