"Excellent company! Our technician, Juan was very knowledgeable and efficient. He explained everything to us regarding the job. Was very honest and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. We have been telling everyone about this company and the top notch customer service we received. We highly recommend them!!"

Small jobs welcome

"They performed all the work on a very professional manner. The only thing I was expecting that I did not receive was a professional report. When I have had the chimney cleaned in the past they always have given me a standard form with a checklist of things that were performed along with before and after pictures. I guess this was just in case u ever had a fire in the Chimney you could show the Insurance company that you had a professional inspection. I did get a receipt."

"Everything went great -- initial consultation, installation, account set-up and ongoing monitoring. The alarm went off twice in the past year. The first time, my dog set it off because I had a motion-detection monitor in a place that wasn't high enough. I was in a meeting at work and didn't receive the call from the monitoring entity, so the police were notified and came to my home and inspect (everything was fine). The second time, I accidentally triggered the alarm myself while at home. The monitoring service called me, I provided the passcode to prove it was me and everything was alright, and the police were not notified. So this basically works just like any costly alarm service -- with the same level of quality, professionalism and customer service -- but is far less expensive. I paid about $100 for the equipment and the monthly monitoring fee for the plan I selected is $42.99, which includes remote access to activate and deactivate the system (through an app available for Apple and Droid devices). I couldn't be happier with FrontPoint.

"The technicians showed up on time and were friendly and professional.  But once they were finished, they tried to say there were some safety issues with the firebox and wanted to sell us some additional repairs.  I was surprised by this because we had had the house inspected 4 years before by a very reputable home inspector who told us that everything looked good and since the chimney was stainless steel we would probably never have a problem with it.  As a result, I had another chimney sweep come look at the firebox and chimney and he thought everything was fine, that there were no safety issues.
I felt they tried to upsell us on repairs we did not need.  I hate to give any company a bad report, but I would not use them again, nor would I recommend them.

"We recently made a decision to purchase new Quartz countertops for our kitchen. We looked at a few different options and decided to purchase from Home Depot. Home Depot in the Richmond VA area use Classic Granite and Marble (CGM) as their suppler. Immediately after making the purchase, we were contacted by CGM to set up an appointment with their templator to verify the measurements we had provided. The templator Johnny as communicated to us called before arriving and brought sophisticated equipment to verify the countertop measurements. Johnny was very efficient, and professional. Next, we were contacted by CGM to inquire if we desired to inspect the slab of quartz that would be used to manufacture our countertops. We indicated that we did, and an appointment was scheduled. When arriving at the CGM we were very impressed with the facility, the large amount of inventory, the state-of-the-art equipment and the knowledge and customer service we received from Aylissa. The installation date was set and lead by installer Adan and his assistant, the install went great. Overall, the experience with CGM was outstanding from start to finish. Everyone we worked with from CGM was knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and professional. We would highly recommend CGM."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to tell if your roof vent boot is leaking is to look in your attic for signs of water damage. You might see visible moisture, water spots, or mold on the roof decking around the roof vent or damaged or soggy insulation below it. If you don’t have access to your attic or aren’t sure if the vent boot is the issue, hire a professional to come inspect your roof and figure out the underlying issue.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Before hiring a roofing contractor, it's wise to ask several key questions. Inquire if they are licensed for roof replacement and repair and if they hold any special certifications. Ask if they will be completing all the work themselves or subcontracting parts of it. It's also important to understand the project timeline, whether they will remove the old roof or place new shingles on top, and how they will handle cleanup after the project is complete. Finally, ask about warranties for both work and materials, what recourse you have if issues like leaks arise, and if they can provide customer references.

Yes, many providers include video copies for your records. Confirm with your contractor.

Yes, copper roof strips can help prevent shingle damage and are an alternative to algae-resistant shingles. They work in a similar way: they release copper ions that interfere with algae, moss, and other plant growth. Algae feeds on limestone in your roof shingles, and moss can uplift shingles and increase the risk of leaks. If you have issues with algae or moss on your roof, copper roof strips can help avoid damage.
