"As we were downsizing and selling our house, our realtor suggested Perfectly Organized by Paige to help us out, since we couldn’t handle everything ourselves. After chatting with Paige and figuring out what we needed, we decided to hire her, and we’re so happy with how it turned out! She worked with us to decide what to keep, throw away, or donate. Then, Paige took care of all the rest. She got a dumpster for the trash, packed donations for Goodwill, put up big items for people to take, and packed things for storage or moving. Now, our house is ready for showings and looks amazing! We couldn’t have done this without Paige’s help, and we highly recommend Perfectly Organized by Paige to anyone who needs help organizing, clearing out, or downsizing."

"I had to have my long driveway cleared from snow. James handled the job. Unlike other businesses in Charlottesville where it is hit and miss if they get back to you, James was in constant contact with me and followed up each of my calls and requests. He was thoroughly reliable, skilled, friendly, and patient. He did not leave the job until I was completely satisfied. He is a hard worker and I wish I could leave him 10 stars!"

"Peter arrived at agreed on time, went over the three areas (remove brushy weeds, weedeat, clean weeds from around propane tank and clean up residue.) It took 3 hours on a hot humid day using cuutters for thumb thick brush and a tarp to collect cuttings. He did it well and even picked up trash blown out of passing vehicles without being asked or told to do so. I plan on using him again as I am 77 and not able to do this type of yardwork any more."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

No, you can’t place hazardous waste in a dumpster unless you specifically ordered a dumpster for hazardous waste removal. If the dumpster company finds hazardous waste that it didn’t approve for dumping, the company will return the waste to you, and you’ll likely face a fine for illegal dumping.

If your roof was constructed between 1930 and 1970, there’s a possibility that the shingles contain asbestos. If that’s the case, you should hire a professional for repairs and replacement, as they’ll have the necessary equipment to stay safe from such a hazardous and cancer-causing substance. If your home was constructed after this period, it’s unlikely that the shingles in place are toxic. In most cases, asbestos shingles are not recyclable, while standard asphalt shingles are recyclable.

Unfortunately, lead dust does not look different from any other type of dust. You cannot detect it with the naked eye. To determine if you have lead dust in your home, you will need to hire a local company to take a sample from the paint and test it for you in a lab.

Embarking on a kitchen demolition comes with its share of risks to keep in mind. Think of potential encounters with asbestos, sharp objects, and power tools—not to mention the peril of structures wobbling or unexpected plumbing surprises. And, of course, you will be surrounded by dust and debris throughout the process. All of the above makes safety gear necessary, or you can consider hiring a qualified professional.
