"Troy was quick to respond to our request for service. He was able to start the project promptly, which was fortunate for us. The work was done with attention to detail. The deck was a challenge with the footers and Troy worked out a solution for our situation. Everyone was respectful of our property and the site was always very neat. His website has lots of representation of completed projects and is an Angies List Super Service Award winner for several years. We could not have been happier to have Troybilt work for us and will definitely call them for future projects."

"Excellent. Dan Kirby is a real find! Dan is knowledgeable about paints, is a very clean painter, fast and thorough. Always at the office early, courteous, with a smile and willing to do what needs to be done. Also clear communication about expectations, cost etc. I highly recommend him, and he will continue to work at the Manor as things come up that need to be done."

"They were very professional. Also, on time and cleaned up the work area each day once they were finished. Went above and beyond what I asked. Already planning for them to do another project next month. I would highly recommend their service to anyone."

"Work was delayed but through no fault of their own - Rain, rain, RAIN! But when the weather cooperated, the crew was here getting the job done and cleaning up after each day’s work. My next door neighbors liked their work so much they hired Custom Construction Group to remove an old addition to their house and replace it with a beautiful deck. We are both very pleased with the work that was done by Debra Belew and her crew!"

"Dale did a fantastic job touching up our home and repairing the drywall in our bathroom. We would highly recommend him. His rates were less than half the price that Paint Genies quoted me. The only small complaint we would have is that we made a check out to J&D painting and he informed us that he didn't have a buisness checking account (which we found odd for someone who says they are licensed and bonded). We had to rip up that check and write him a different one in his name. Either way, he did a great job and we would have him back in a heartbeat if we needed him."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Deck repairs cost around $800 to $3,500 . However, your cost depends on the type and severity of the repair, as well as the type of decking material you have. Other factors, like location and labor costs, impact the price, too. Boards and railings are the priciest parts of a deck to repair, while loose stairs are less expensive to fix.

You can add a roof to most decks, but you need to have it inspected first. If your deck didn’t come with a roof initially, it may not be able to handle the weight without some structural changes. You can add additional supports to your existing deck to safely add a roof, and tying your deck’s roof to an exterior wall can help add some structural stability, but remember these aren’t DIY projects and need to be left to a pro.

Be careful when choosing a product to help you remove ice from your wood deck. Never use sand, gravel, or salt, since these items can damage and scratch the wood. Instead, look for chemical de-icers that are marked as safe for wood decks or use hot water to melt snow and ice.

You typically don’t need a railing and handrails on a deck that’s less than 30 inches from the ground. However, consider adding them regardless. Railings provide additional safety for you and your guests who use your deck—plus, railings give the deck a more finished look than it would have without them.

Generally, a patio is more accessible than a standard deck because patios are constructed at ground level. However, decks can be made accessible by adding a wheelchair-accessible ramp, a vertical lift, or a stair lift along the entry. An ADA-compliant deck ramp costs about $3,000 on average. The additional investment will provide a much friendlier experience for your guests with movement impairments.
