"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! Dirt Hauling FAQs, answered by experts

The cost to tear down a garage averages $2,000 to $10,000. You might consider this option if your existing garage is damaged beyond repair or if you have grand renovation ideas that are best suited to a fresh build. In some cases, tearing down and rebuilding a garage is more cost effective than adding an extension.

When considering how to dispose of other appliances, a landfill is also usually not an option. The biggest difference is that electrical appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, or dishwashers aren’t as easy to transport as a portable microwave. Some local councils offer bulky uplift services (although a fee may apply), scrap metal recyclers might pick yours up, trade-in options on big items are more common, and some utility companies offer incentivized recycling programs.

Begin by asking neighbors whether they hired a nearby junk removal company in the past. A great junk removal team should have glowing local reviews, an upfront estimate process, and easy scheduling. They should also be able to show proof of license and insurance. Lastly, get to know at least three junk removal companies before making your choice.

To eliminate waste without polluting, consider whether it can be recycled, reused, or donated. However, hazardous waste, such as chemicals or electronics, requires special handling and disposal to prevent it from polluting landfills. Organic waste can be composted or converted into fuel at a biogas generation facility.

Finding the right dumpster rental company for your needs requires interviewing companies to ask about rental timelines, costs, and weight limits. Here are some questions you can ask a dumpster rental company you’re considering:

  • How long are your standard rental contracts? Can I extend it?

  • What is the maximum weight your dumpsters can hold?

  • Does the rental include dumping fees?

  • Do I need a permit, and will you pull it for me?

  • Will you protect my driveway from damage?
