"I would like to recommend Joshua Smith as a Tesla installer and overall electrician. He did a great job for my wife and I on the installation of our powerwall 3 and car chargers within our garages as well as trouble shooting some other electrical problems at our new home at Smith Mountain Lake. Additionally, he answers phone calls and shows up on time. Again, we highly recommend Joshua."

"We initially had Travis come out to hang a light fixture in our tall foyer, fix nonworking kitchen outlets, contain a live wire in the basement and quote us for installing recessed lighting. They did a thorough walk through of our home and identified several safety concerns, including expired smoke/carbon monoxide detectors among other things. They fixed the kitchen outlets during that first visit and we scheduled for the remaining work to be done the next week. They were on time every day, clean and professional. We had no worries with leaving them in our home alone. They work was done timely and done right! We will use Travis again for our electrical needs."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.
