Small jobs welcome

"Derrick brought in the mulch I needed within days. He and his crew are talented and dedicated, my beds were covered with 22 cubic yards. Derrick and one of his crew are also skilled at concrete and masonry, so I hired the pair to raise custom shaped and installed flag stones. I never thought I would find artisans with the skill to re-install them with the slope and fit required. They pulled it off"

"D&b ground maintenance is the very best company I have had to do my lawn care. They are polite, and professional the guys that do my yard are very good at what they do everybody does a chore. You have the mowers and edge trimmers, and then leaf blowers. They pick up any lose debri, and tidy up. I finally found a crew that knows what I like. I would recommend them to everybody. This company is great!"

"We hired Keon to install nearly 1,200 sq ft of porcelain tile in our home after he came out to repair the plumbing that caused the need for new flooring. He is a tireless worker and an even better person. Not only did he do an incredible job on the installation, his character is such that we were comfortable leaving him in the house to work when we needed to leave as the project lasted a couple weeks and we weren't able to be home the entire time. I would not hesitate to hire him again for any number of home repairs or improvements. He's a man of many skills!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to remove snow from your roof: using a snow rake, salting the roof with calcium chloride, using a rope (cautiously), and using heating cables. It’s important to mention that pretty, fluffy, sparkling snow weighs a great deal, and when physically removing snow from a roof, you should be aware of large snow slabs breaking off. These can weigh hundreds of pounds and are a real danger, so be extremely careful anytime you’re doing this type of work.

The best way to save money on snow removal is to sign up for a seasonal contract that guarantees service throughout the entire winter. Most companies charge between $200 and $600 for this service, and they’ll often give you a break on the price if you extend annually. Of course, savings will depend on your area. If you live in a moderate climate where snowfall may or may not occur, you could pay more than you need during a light snow year. Still, it’s usually a safe bet to sign a seasonal contract.

Snowblowers are some of the best tools for snow removal because they remove large amounts of snow quickly without bodily harm or damaging your deck. If your snowblower can fit on your deck, it’s a good first line of defense to remove snow quickly and easily. If you don’t have a snowblower, a plastic shovel with a rubber blade is another good choice to remove snow on a deck.

The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.

Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.

If you do end up with frozen gutters, it's important to thaw them correctly. Thawing your gutters slowly is far safer than trying to break apart the ice. Once you get through the ice, bring in a gutter professional to check out the effectiveness of your heated system.
