"The installers were amazing! Nico and Clay were professional, friendly and fast. They answered all of our questions, made sure that the shower accessories were placed according to our needs, and explained the specifics of the door position, and adjustments we could make to the shower head and soap dish. We could not have been more pleased with their quality of work. Thank you Nico and Clay!"

"Harmond helped me over video link to test the components in my broken refrigerator. The testing confirmed that it was the compressor that had failed. I purchased a new refrigerator because I decided it was not worth the cost to replace the compressor."

"I appreciate the speed that Jordan called me back Saturday evening after I submitted a quote request via Angi, their flexibility with changing my appointment, and how great a job that Dylon performed quickly. Work performed included drywall removal, removal of old washing machine valves crimped to polybutylene piping, installation of PEX to support installation of new valves, and repair testing. All for a reasonable price after I spent hours to realize I couldn't do the job myself without special tools. Thanks!"

"From the inspection to work completion, JES performed great work. Our chimney was leaking for over a year. We had every chimney repair possible performed. Finally, I thought to call JES to see if it was a foundation problem. It has only rained twice since the push piers were installed, but so far, no leaks. The foreman took time to explain the work and how the chimney was sinking. I appreciate the honesty and hard work of the employees/crew. I would definitely call them again for any foundation repair."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Many homeowners may never have to test their homes for asbestos. Asbestos particles are only dangerous if they become airborne. If you plan to do construction or notice damage to piping, siding, or drywall, you should hire a specialist to test for asbestos.

If you plan to remodel your home or have any concerns, you should have your home tested for asbestos just to be safe.

Yes, even a single, one-time exposure to asbestos can be harmful and increase the risk of future illness, including certain diseases and cancers. The level of risk depends on several factors, such as the concentration and intensity of the exposure. A small, brief exposure is less likely to cause significant damage than an exposure to a high concentration of asbestos fibers.

The likelihood of developing severe health issues increases with repeated or prolonged exposure. Individual reactions to asbestos vary; some people may have multiple exposures without harm, while others are more susceptible. Asbestos-related illnesses may not manifest for 10 to 40 years after inhalation.

Due to these risks, it is crucial to take precautions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may not offer complete protection, as fibers can get through small gaps. The EPA recommends hiring a professional for testing and removal if you suspect the presence of asbestos in your home. If you are concerned about a potential exposure, consult your doctor.

If you have an older electrical system with fraying wires and other signs of damage, removal  may be the best course of action. When asbestos begins to break down, it's more likely to become airborne, increasing the risk of health issues when it's inhaled.

However, if the system is in good condition and doesn't have visible signs of wear or damage, leaving it alone may be the safest course of action. An asbestos abatement and removal professional can help you determine the best way to proceed.

There are products that still contain asbestos, but they were typically installed decades ago. Common places where you may still find asbestos-containing materials are in siding, wrapped around ductwork, in older appliances (i.e., stove and gravity furnaces), and in floors. Asbestos was primarily used as an insulator, so anywhere in an older home where you lose heat is where you will most likely find asbestos.

Asbestos can be found in many building materials, especially if the materials were installed more than 20 years ago. Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) can include:

  • Acoustic ceiling tiles

  • Furnace insulation

  • Home appliances

  • Fire-retardant clothing

  • Cement pipe

  • Pipe insulation

  • Wall and ceiling insulation

  • Vehicle brake pads

  • Vinyl flooring

  • Sprayed acoustic ceilings

  • Stove insulation

  • Patching compounds

  • Textured paints

  • Roofing shingles

  • Siding
