"Outstanding work, they replaced windows and installed vinyl siding on my 90 year old home. The workmanship was professionally done, the family owned company was efficient and thorough, and they impressed my 89 year old dad with the work! He was there every day, worked all day long and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend Weather Tamers. I can't say enough about them, they went above and beyond and they are absolutely wonderful!!! My family have all said, this is a Quality Job."

"Upon discovering that when our now four-year-old home was built, the support beams in our crawlspace had not been properly installed, nor had adequate ventilation been provided resulting in the stability of our home being in jeopardy. We began a search for a reputable company to address our issues. We found JES. We were fortunate to have Charles Logan as the representative to assess our needs. Charles was very thorough in determining what needed to be done. Zachary Conner and Michael Kimberlin were assigned to perform the work. They were very conscientious in taking the steps that were needed and keeping us well informed along the way. Charles, Zachary, and Michael were very professional, very pleasant, and respectful of our property. Thank you for putting our minds at ease and in making our home feel safe."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We cannot say enough wonderful things about Universal Siding and Windows! From start to finish, our experience was absolutely outstanding. They replaced all of the vinyl siding and windows on our home, and the transformation is unbelievable. The entire team was professional, dependable, hardworking, and paid close attention to every detail. The quality of their craftsmanship truly shows — they treated our home like it was their own and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. Not only does our home look beautiful, but we can already tell the difference in the comfort and quality of the new windows and siding. It’s refreshing to work with a company that still takes pride in their work, communicates well, and delivers exactly what they promise. We are beyond happy with the results and would highly recommend Universal Siding and Windows to anyone looking to improve their home. Windows questions, answered by experts

Garden windows last about 15 to 30 years, depending on the materials, ongoing maintenance, and local climate. Fiberglass and wood windows tend to have the longest life spans as long as you keep up with cleaning, lubricating, and refinishing them. Make sure to inspect your windows about once a year for signs of trouble, like worn-out seals, frame damage, or cracks in the panes.

On average, bay windows are three times as expensive as a standard double-hung window, so up-front cost is a major drawback. They also let in more natural light than most other types of windows, which can be a positive thing, but it can also lead to more aggressive fading and UV damage to furniture and flooring. Larger windows allow for more heat transfer, so bay windows tend to be less energy-efficient due to their size. Finally, window treatments for bay windows can be more challenging to find, and they’re more expensive than those you’d place over standard-sized windows.

The biggest disadvantages of low-E windows have to do with cost and, depending on your personal taste, appearance. Low-E windows cost more than traditional windows—typically between $300 and $1,000 per window, plus installation costs. Though they can save you money in the long run, low-E windows have a hefty upfront price tag. Additionally, low-E windows have a slightly different look than traditional windows. While some people don’t notice it, others say the low-E coating gives windows a hazy look.

The amount of time window lintels last is based on the environment they’re installed in and the material that’s installed. For example, a steel lintel installed in a temperate climate will always last longer than a wooden or brick lintel installed in an area with tons of rain, snow, and wind. No matter which material you choose or where you live, proper maintenance will ensure your lintels last as long as possible.

Replacing basement windows can be worth the cost if replacement is necessary. If your windows are leaking and leading to water damage in your basement, it’s absolutely worth replacing them. Similarly, if your basement windows are no longer insulating your basement or pose a security risk, you need to replace them.

In some cases, you may be able to save money by repairing a window instead of replacing it. A contractor can help you decide the right course of action.
