"The awnings look great and I look forward to a cooler house this summer.  Mr. Montgomery was extremely knowledgeable about the product and provided many choices from which to choose.  He follow-up promptly as well.  His son was great at the installation as well.

"I am extremely happy with AJ's service, start to finish. We initially reached out for an estimate at the beginning of 2015. A representative came to our house to explain all the different products as well as pricing and timing. I had reached out to 2 other companies before hand but was not comfortable their high pressure selling. AJ was very patient with us regarding our timing and budget. I received an estimate on the spot and was able to take my time to review and get back to them. We scheduled the work for May and was able to have 7 Windows removed and replaced in only a few hours. We are very impressed with the quick respond time, professionalism and quality of work including cleanup. We plan on using AJ to replace the remaining Windows as well as a sliding glass door in early 2016.

"I looked everywhere for a contractor who could understand the style I wanted (Mexican kitchen with Talavera tiles and a terra cotta floor). Ligia, the designer, worked closely with me to find the materials and to create a beautiful design that truly shines! Dave, the owner, was involved at every step of the process and made sure to respond immediately as issues arose. After tearing out my old cabinets, they even found a slow leak from the bathroom upstairs and repaired it. Then they discovered a vent pipe in back of one cupboard which meant we had to reorder a new pantry to fit. They took care of it all, finished on time, and it looks gorgeous."

"We hired Zedarwoodwork to remodel our kitchen and I must say that they did an excellent job. Our kitchen had a total 360 degree turn from being outdated to very modern. The customer service, attention to detail and ideas were outstanding. If you need to remodel your kitchen or any part of your home don’t look any further. Zedarwoodwork is it."

"We met with Tommy, the owner, on  around mid May 2012.  We found him to be very helpful and easy to talk to.  He returned an estimate to us within a few days.  He returned on May 23, 2012 with the contract, which we signed.  We then gave him a check for half of the amount.  He gave us a ballpark estimate for when he thought he could begin.  That date ended up turning into several weeks longer due to rain that delayed his completion of the previous job.  He said that he liked to finish a job completely before going on to the next one.  We totally respected that.Around mid June (I didn't record the date)  Tommy called to say he would be at our home a certain date.  He came that day along with two other men that he wanted to introduce to us.  One gentlemen he said would be supervising our job, and the other was a young man  helping him over the summer.  The three of them looked over the deck and gazebo and discussed various topics in detail about the best approach to take.  Talking with and listening to them gave us a tremendous feeling of relief in that we felt we were in good hands.  After that the one supervisor stayed by himself and the other two left.  The man worked the rest of the day in the scorching heat.  He never complained or slacked off.  He began assembling the railings that day and even got a few sections up.He spent the next couple of weeks returning periodically to work.  He needed to get a particular type of bracket to handle certain angles so that held him up slightly.  We became concerned when certain railings did not look level, nor were all the railings in the gazebo attached to the posts at the same height.  When we spoke to the supervisor about this he showed me how they were level from one section to the rest, although with the naked eye, they were obviously not at the same height.  Over the rest of the job we had several conversations about this and I have to say that he never once acted frustrated with me or my husband.  He indicated that he would do whatever it took to make us happy.  I also called Tommy on two occasions to express my concern.  Both times he listened patiently and never once made me feel like I was being unreasonable.I have no doubt that this was a frustrating job for this contractor, as it would have been for anyone because they were not building their product from the beginning and had to work around an existing deck and gazebo that had imperfections. My only reason for not recommending this contractor is simply the frustration of feeling like we had to check behind the supervisor with each new railing that went up.  He made everything as good as he could when he finished, but in doing so, had to leave screw holes were brackets had to be altered.  I'm sure he does excellant carpentry in many ways, but this job was extremely frustrating.  I do not feel the need for the company to be contacted as Tommy was aware of our feelings and made every effort to make us happy."

"Sandy (owner of the company) was very on top of our project. We had an opening cut out of a load bearing wall. It was very large opening and the wall was stabilized for continued support of our home. Very well done. The project did require more time and our home was protected as much as possible from construction dust . My only suggestion is for Sandy to have an electrician that she has trust in and a working relationship. Respectfully Deb W"

Awnings questions, answered by experts

On average, awning costs range from $1,400 to $4,400. The low end of the cost range can be around $100 up to $7,500 on the high end. Cost factors include the type of awning, size, and location. Portable awnings are the most affordable and DIY-friendly to install, costing $100 to $400. Larger, motorized awnings tend to be more solidly built, ranging in price from $2,000 to $3,500.

Yes, most awnings include warranties for materials and installation. Confirm terms before purchasing.

The main disadvantage of an awning window is that you can’t use it to escape in an emergency. Another disadvantage of awning windows is that they can get dirty quicker than other types of windows that don’t open outward, especially if you keep them open when it’s raining or snowing. You can hire a local window replacement installer to decide if an awning window is right for your home.

Awnings can be a serious investment for homeowners, particularly if it features a motorized and retractable design. Protect the exterior of your home by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor. Do some research ahead of time to get an idea of the potential contractor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss specifics.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.
