"Went well. Took 2 treatments to eliminate hornets. Second hole was tough to get to, but Art did a good job eradicating the insects. Price seemed a bit high to me ($125), but perhaps that is reasonable for pest control."

For a more sustained solution, combining shiny objects with other deterrent methods shared here is often beneficial for creating a more comprehensive and effective strategy for bird control.

Some of the smells we love are, thankfully, pretty putrid for mosquitoes. A few essential oils that might have them swarming in the other direction include:

  • Lavender

  • Citronella

  • Eucalyptus

  • Cinnamon

  • Thyme

Be careful how and where you apply essential oils around pets and children, and top them off regularly so they stay effective.

When you spray a roach, the chemicals, usually a mix of neurotoxins like pyrethroids or pyrethrins, start affecting its nervous system almost immediately. It disrupts the roach’s nerve signals, causing paralysis and eventually death. You'll often see the roach twitch, flip over on its back, and stop moving within seconds to minutes.

We recommend using diatomaceous earth to create roach repellent barriers outdoors. If you are really struggling with an outdoor roach problem, we suggest looking for pet-safe bait traps you can set.

Voles are pretty prolific breeders, managing to squeeze in 5 to 10 litters a year, and each litter usually has around 3 to 5 little ones. These furry creatures are flexible with their love lives, as they can breed all year round, though spring and summer are their prime times. If they're living it up in warmer areas, voles don't take a break and keep reproducing non-stop.
