"We had received 8" snowfall on the bench east of Kaysville. I had just had a knee replacement and not able to shovel. Called Wilkins out of desperation after being turned down, no call backs and waiting for cell calls to be returned to no avail. He told me that they would get it done for me and in 2 hrs a crew was here. THANKS! Because of their service we will be asking for Xeriscape bid, bid on redo sprinkler system, move and reconnect auxiliary pump for Weber Water connect and a monthly lawn care. It pays to be a good business now days!"

Customers say: True professional

"The jobsite was difficult to access at the top of a 30 foot snow covered hill. Despite some broken and frozen mounting screws, Leonard was able to remove and replace my broken TV antenna atop a 12' tall crank-up tower. Excellent work ethic, knowledgeable, personable, with fair pricing."

"They came when they promised, which is a huge plus in my book. They gave great advice about the project we needed to have them do - did an expert job, and they cleaned up nicely afterwards. Even our neighbors commented on the great work they did. They had to cross two neighbors' back lawns to get to us and they were very careful not to damage anything, or even leave ruts in the lawn with their heavy equipment. High grades all around."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Snowblowers come in three different sizes: first-, second-, and third-stage blowers. Each additional stage is larger with higher intakes, more powerful, and has more gear options.

A first-stage blower, also called a snow thrower, is usually best for snow 6 to 8 inches or below. Electric snow blowers are usually only available in this size. If you regularly get snow that’s well above six inches, consider a second-stage snow blower. If snowstorms dump 2 to 3 feet of snow repeatedly during winter, you need a third-stage snow blower to tackle it.

The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.

Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.

The fastest and most effective way to remove snow, especially from a driveway, is by using a high-powered, two- or three-stage snow blower, which can clear an area in minutes. Other helpful options include a snow thrower, a wheelbarrow plow, and a leaf blower. If you need immediate assistance, consider hiring a professional snow removal service to handle the job for you.

Magnesium chloride is a relatively gentle ice melt product and, if used correctly, should not cause much damage to your property. The most important thing is to be sure you apply it according to the manufacturer’s instructions and don’t use too much.

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.
