"Sam was quick to respond and start flipping my parking strips. He took out the lawn and a tree, installed a drip system for two new trees and decorative grasses which he planted and layed rock in the beds. He repaired the sprinkler system for the remaining lawn. Sam is insured and licensed, works in a professional manner, uses professional equipment and was prompt every day. He also cleaned up well at the end of each day and was respectful of the neighbors. Several neighbors were impressed enough to stop by as he worked asking for his business card. I'm super pleased with the results!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it is best to leave icicles on your roof and allow them to melt naturally. You should only consider removing them if they are heavy enough to cause damage to your home or pose a risk to people below. Since removing icicles can be dangerous, it is recommended to hire a professional for the job if you have immediate concerns. To prevent the issue from recurring, you should address the underlying cause, such as improving your home's insulation or installing roof heating coils.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

The best time to hire a snow removal professional is long before snow falls in your area. Signing up for a seasonal contract not only provides peace of mind that your property will be cleared every time it snows, but it’s also often more affordable to sign a contract than paying for one-off services. If you prefer one-off shoveling services, you should contact your snow removal company the day before a storm is expected to schedule service. You can also call the morning of the snowfall, but this might result in delays.

Time varies based on the property size and snow depth, but most jobs take 1-3 hours.

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.
