"Jason and his wife were so easy to work with. They listened to what we wanted and ran with it. We did a complete front and backyard remodel and they did it all! New sod, cement, sprinkler system, front and back porch, fence, cement pad, they pulled and cut trees and new rails around the patio. We have a completely new front and backyard. It’s so beautiful. We spend a lot of time outside just admiring their work. They were professional, fast and offered us the most reasonable price for everything we wanted. We would definitely hire AMT Concrete & Services again!"

Driveway Gates FAQs, answered by experts

A sliding gate, or a sliding gate door, is a versatile gate system used for various applications. Sliding gate mechanisms allow the gate to move horizontally along a track or guide system when opened or closed. They come in multiple types, including sliding folding gates, telescopic gates, cantilever gates, and track sliding gates. These gates are known for their durability, ease of installation, and user-friendly operation, making them popular for property access and security.

There is a reason many commercial garages and storage facilities have roller garage doors. They stand out as one of the most secure options due to their unique design. The compact installation and absence of visible leverage points on the sturdy aluminum curtain make them a formidable obstacle for potential intruders.

For homeowners concerned about security, an electric gate may offer peace of mind. Electric gates will require a code or remote to open, so you don’t have to worry about young children getting out of the yard or someone breaking onto your property by simply swinging open the gate. But because it needs power to operate, installing an electric gate will be more complex and expensive.

Your gate should be 3/4 to an inch smaller than the opening. The opening size that you need for your gate can vary depending on your hinge type. You may also need to add reinforcing braces if the gap between your gate and the fence is not uniform from top to bottom.

When building an outdoor or deck gate, it's crucial to use durable wood that can withstand harsh weather conditions like sunlight, rain, wind, and snow. Redwood and cedar are excellent choices as they naturally resist decay. While redwood is considered more elegant, cedar is a more affordable option. Other suitable woods include oak and pressure-treated pine, which is specifically treated to resist rot. Although some softwoods like pine are popular, untreated softwoods such as pine and spruce should generally be avoided for outdoor projects because they are susceptible to damage from water, rot, and the sun. Ultimately, it's wise to consider your local climate when selecting the right wood for your gate.
