"We would give Cody 10 Stars if they were available. He has installed two paver patios for us and our experience with the first prompted the second. On time; responsive; responsible and a true artisan who takes the time necessary to do it right the first time. Plus, his price was reasonable and he’s super easy to get along with. He will be our first choice for any work that is within the scope of what Aspired Custom Creations does."

"This Father and Son team worked together so seamlessly! They are the only ones who showed up immediately in person to do the estimate. Everyone else did via text with a pic I sent them. They started the next day and were were always on time and spent extra time detailing things, and making sure everything looked perfect! This job was not easy due to the location up against hedges and dealing with large roots! Their pricing was also more reasonable and they were a joy to work with! I would highly recommend Molina Concrete Solutions!"

"Showed up on time. Let you know everything he was doing. Was able to install drain system. Did a good job of sloping and finishing . Very personable. Hard worker. Didnâ t stand around or take breaks. Was able to finish in a relatively short amount of time considering having to remove and haul 25,000 lbs of old patio concrete."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The cost to pour a driveway apron depends on the material and size. Concrete costs $3 to $10 per square foot, asphalt ranges from $2 to $5, and pavers are $5 to $15 per square foot. Additional expenses, like excavation, base material, and labor, can increase the total cost. For example, a standard 12x15-foot concrete apron could cost between $540 and $1,800, depending on local rates and additional work required. Always consult a local driveway paving contractor to get an accurate estimate tailored to your project.

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

Since it has a smoother surface using a mixture of finer rock and sand, 41A tends to be the best asphalt grade for a driveway, especially for residential driveways. Other options are available, but more homeowners choose 41A for a smoother asphalt driveway. Talk with your asphalt driveway professional for recommendations of the best grade for your specific driveway.

At a depth of two inches, a ton of asphalt covers around 80 to 100 square feet. However, the thicker the asphalt, the less surface area it will cover. That’s why measuring correctly is essential when estimating asphalt needs and costs to ensure you get enough material to cover your entire driveway, patio, or other asphalt surface.
