"KRAZ Electric was great. They were the first to reply and set an appointment with me the same day. I received a text message letting me know they were meeting with me at the scheduled time, and Ryan arrived right on time. He was thorough, and narrowed the problem down fairly quickly. Despite not being 100% sure, it turned out that his original assessment of where the problem originated was spot on. The City came out, made a couple of adjustments and my problem was solved. Ryan happened to still be at my residence with the City arrived, so he stuck around and made sure the workers were aware of what he assessed as the problem and stayed until they were wrapping up. I really appreciated his interest in making sure the City didn't put me off or tell me something different. Ryan was great."

"Israel and his coworker installed 2 ceiling fans, provided a new outlet, installed a ring doorbell and routed some coax. He was available faster than I expected and was very professional and thorough. The price was very good and I am very happy with the work - I highly recommend them!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Provo, electrical panels in homes built from the 1970s to 1990s often require upgrades to meet current standards. Outdoor outlets and fixtures can deteriorate quickly due to local weather, while basements may need improved wiring to address moisture and settling. Kitchen circuits may become overloaded with modern appliances, and garage or attic wiring often needs attention, especially with increased electric vehicle charging and temperature extremes.

Helpful?

In Provo, homeowners often skip required permits for electrical projects, risking safety and future home sales. Attempting complex wiring without a licensed Provo electrician or ignoring local code updates can cause issues. Overlooking the impact of seasonal weather on outdoor wiring, underestimating electrical load needs, and neglecting proper grounding in older homes are also frequent mistakes. Always consult a professional for home electrical work.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Provo, use copper wiring for reliability in fluctuating temperatures and choose weather-resistant, cold-rated outdoor equipment. Install arc-fault circuit interrupters as required by code, and select UV-resistant conduit for exterior runs. Opt for durable electrical panels and cold-weather rated cables to ensure long-term performance. Prioritizing these materials helps maintain home electrical safety and withstands Provo’s unique climate challenges.

Helpful?

As a new homeowner in Provo, prioritize a thorough inspection of your electrical panel, especially if your home is older or has had recent renovations. Upgrade to GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas to meet local code and improve home electrical safety. Install hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, consider whole-home surge protection for stormy weather, and add outdoor lighting for both security and curb appeal.

Helpful?

Electrical maintenance in Provo includes annual inspections of your panel for moisture or corrosion, monthly testing of GFCI outlets, and cleaning outdoor fixtures to remove dust and snow. Replace surge protectors every few years or after major storms. Change smoke detector batteries twice a year, and schedule a professional inspection every 3-5 years, especially for homes over ten years old, to ensure ongoing home electrical safety.
